Dream on, but know that if you sell a Maverick Hybrid now, you may be waiting a while for the opportunity to buy another Maverick Hybrid, let alone a PHEV.
I know right... if it will be 2025 then I will shell out some money for the service contract then.

The article is almost six months old but that doesn't stop me from wanting an AWD plug-in hybrid. I wouldn't want to give up any performance though and the article mentioned a smaller gas engine. Maybe they make up for that with additional electric motors. I'm all for it!

and I quote: "If you want the combination of a hybrid engine with an all-wheel-drive system, fret not. A Maverick AWD Plug-in Hybrid seems to be in the works. It will most likely be a 2.1-liter engine with an 11.2 kWh battery pack that could offer an electric-only range of up to 30 miles. It could also be more off-road friendly than the current 2022 Maverick. There’s not a lot of information available on this yet, or even an official confirmation, for that matter, but it will arrive for sure."

Many of us have been clamoring for an AWD hybrid Maverick and the author of this article believes it shall come in due time. Mostly the article is a standard review of the 2022 Maverick, but if you scroll down about 2/3 of the way, you'll see the prophesy.

I listened to a podcast with one of the engineers who worked on the Maverick, he hinted that it was in the works. Based on chip shortages and battery availability and Ford funneling resources to the very profitable Lightning which they can't build enough of I think it'll be at the mid cycle refresh at the earliest.

Yep, that's the quote from the article that interested me. While I realize the article is six months old, let's not forget that time has been stretched out and slightly suspended with all the manufacturing delays. There's no evidence the article has been proven false. I know you weren't necessarily debating that, but I just wanted to point out that 6 months in "Ford Maverick Time" is not so long.

I don't see any good reason why Ford would complicate manufacturing for the Maverick until at least 4 years in.

Plus, batteries would be much better utlized from a profit perspective on an EV or their hybrid F-150/Lightnings.

I would trade mine in for a PHEV. The battery in the hybrid is too small, I wish it were easier to get up to 25 or 30 in electric mode.

I'm less a fan of a plug-in (is that what the PHEV means?) than the hybrid. I like not being dependent on a charging station only at this time.

But it’s still a hybrid so doesn’t mean you have to use the plug like a full ev.

Oh, thanks for the clarification. So, you have the option of using a plug or just relying on the gas engine and braking to recharge. I wonder if only braking and coasting would be enough to charge a larger electric motor.

Yes as far as being able to use both. Not an expert by any stretch but my understanding is that PHEV usually have bigger hybrid batteries than hybrids such as the current Mav.
