Not sure if you figured it out but thought I'd share since I just got this same mirror.

This is how I wired everything and it is working great:

Black wire in the mirror harness is Ground. Splice it to black wire in the overhead light harness.
Greenb were in the mirror harness is your constant 12v (Homelink). Splice it to the yellow wire in the overhead light harness.
White white on the mirror harness is the intermittent 12v or when keyed on (Compass). Splice it to the purple wire in the interested harness.

This is what I did and it works as I want it to. The garage buttons work always. The compass comes on when I turn the key to the on position. I know some prefer to have the garage buttons to work only when keyed for safety. But I kept a garage door opener in the truck previously anyway so what is the difference? It's much more convenient to just always be available. I love this mod. About $21 shipped and works perfectly. Took about 15 minutes to complete.

I will add that I have a Sommer Direct Drive garage door opener. The Homelink instructions included with the mirror to program it doesn't work. It was very frustrating to be following the steps. I found a PDF of the instruction manual online which had different instructions that worked perfectly:

Hold down all three garage door buttons until the lights turn off. Takes approximately 30 seconds. You can verify the garage buttons are in learn mode by pressing them. They should rapidly flash for 2 seconds and then turn solid. Now that Homelink is in learn mode press the learn button on the garage door opener and then go back to your mirror and press and hold the garage door button you wish to pair for approximately 3 seconds. It will rapidly flash and then turn solid. Now press the garage door button you just programmed and it should work. All other methods online got Homelink did not work except for this one.
I'm literally in the middle of this little task for the 4-wire mirror and you knocked out this excellent write-up 20 minutes before I searched the forums for an answer. You're my hero.

Happy to help. I was all ready to do it when my mirror arrived this week only up show that it's completely different from everything else posted here. In fact, I created this account just to post the wiring to help others.

To those that ran wire down the A pillar for constant 12v from fuse box, can you please post a few pictures? Debating if I should spend the extra time to get proper 12v or spend 10 minutes and just tap from dome light. thanks!

I’m wondering if any Gentex 453 Homelink mirror works. I’d appreciate a member’s response. After a year and a half, my Maverick will finally arrive at the dealer mid May.

The only special thing about this mirror is the mount. The Kia one everyone has posted about here has the same mount and is a direct swap. Otherwise, it just needs to be powered and will work in any vehicle.

If the mount doesn't fit you could razor blade it off and glue the new one on.

The mirror will physically fit without any problems, but wiring it up can be a challenge.

I let @skyhawk take care of the challenge, as he made a jumper cable. A 12 pin socket on the end of a short section of wires and a 12 pin plug on the other...with a tap for the mirror AND a USB socket for my camera's plug. Excellent method, and I love having the Homelink working. No reason for me to use the garage button without the vehicle being on, so there really isn't a reason to have a constant 12V to the mirror.

I should have asked you to wire mine up. Too small of a space, too short of wires, too dark in my garage, blah, blah, blah. Whine and complain, that’s all I ever do.

OK, I was able to install the Kia Mirror and tap into the wiring harness for the Dome lights. I watched a video on YouTube, and in the video, I watch the person telling which wires to use... Complete success. Had to make a run to O'Riely's to get wire connectors.

There are three "clips" holding the black cover on.

The second photo shows there is a "tether" connector that holds the panel (I couldn't figure out how to undo it)

We also took the cover/panel for the Dome light (I have a sunroof) down and disconnected the wires. I tapped into the wires for the dome light. The video I found did the same thing on another Ford vehicle and the same wires were there...

The black wire is your ground, the Purple wire is your (switch power) Yellow/green (last write on your right) wire is your constant power.

I used about a foot of the wire that came with the mirror, it was over kill but when everything is tucked back in place there is plenty of space.

In this photo you can see the green light is on the mirror, so the mirror is getting power. VERY simple and easy... Truly I could do this in about 25 minutes from start to finish.

Completely put back together looks factory.

Took a picture once the Mirror was calibrated to show the compass. Now, I need to program the homelink.

Can't believe how inexpensive this was from Kia.....

This is what I used to connect with the wiring harness.....

@Dad
Excellent tutorial. I see your vehicle has co-pilot 360. I ordered my mirror and was expecting to wire it the same way; however, my XLT does not have co-pilot 360. I do have the forward camera as I understand all XLTs have the camera but the feature is not enabled. Does anyone believe this to be the case. I want to avoid running the power from the fuse panel

CoPilot 360 doesn't matter when wiring the mirror.

Imma gonna have to do some mods if possible. That green led and compass display clashes with the light blue accent lighting. Esthetics and all…
