Didn’t need it and the dealer paid me way more than sticker price for it. 2020 F250 7.3l with 1,000 miles on it. Not often you can feel good leaving a dealer. The market is upside down and didn’t want to miss the chance. The F250 wasn’t enough for my needs. Probably getting a Kenworth.Seems like @2022EOW's question about why you did it is still valid.
After all, you could have traded in your other vehicle (apparently worth more than the Maverick) at the time you took possession of new one. The effect on sales tax would have been the same, and you would have had the use of the other vehicle for several months.
Sound like maybe the reason for doing it was something like "I didn't really need the other vehicle and I thought I could get a better price for it now (or I was afraid it would break down, or I didn't want to insure it for a few more months, or whatever)."
Those would be good reasons, but they don't have much to do with avoiding sales tax.
