Here is my take on my 2023 Hybrid XLT, if I dont get a build confirmation by mid January 2023 I will go to the dealer ask for my deposit back and they can have the truck. I will head over to Chevy, GMC or Toyota and buy. End of a sad sad story.

I stand by my position that you should stick with what you ordered if that is what you want. Ford is going to build something, so there is still a chance they pick yours.

Ford via Tim sharing these numbers is just to manage expectations. EB orders should feel good. They will be built, it's just a matter of time.

The Hybrids are a different matter. But compared to other models, Maverick still has a higher percentage that will be hybrid.

It's bad for everyone, including Ford. We are at the mercy of the supply chain now. Ford managed to get it done last year and I'm trying to remain optimistic about this year. With potentially 12 months of production still left and only 77,000 orders, that means Ford only needs to build 6400 a month.
At the capacities Ford mentioned, assuming Ford can build 10,000 trucks a month (6,500 EBs and 3,500 Hybrids) and assuming these numbers apply for scheduling starting January 1, they would finish all outstanding EB orders by the end of April. But they would need 15 months to finish the outstanding hybrids and I don't know if that includes the soon to be rolled over cancelled VIN MY22s.

I am in a similar boat. The longer the wait, the sooner more info will be out on the competitor that Toyota is building. I was at a Toyota dealership this past Sunday, and the sales guy told me that they are already having in-store meetings on it as a product. With the market for the Mav, I think dealerships would be happy to have a customer say they no longer want their order.

As of now many hybrids won’t be built, but that doesn’t mean it can’t change down the line..
It won't be changed - manufacturers order their resources well in advance to meet their projections and goals , there is virtually no way that with all the supply problems that they are magically going to pull hybrid rabbits out of their hats and be able to change the distribution. If more people don't switch their hybrids to ecos then they'll just use the plant capacity to kick out more Bronco Sports. They either didn't anticipate the hybrid demand or they knew they couldn't secure the resources and set up the limitation. Maybe in 2024 things will change, for MY 2023 as they say 'it is what it is'.

This.. I'll give Ford until June, that's the month when if Toyota IS going to announce a competitor, it'll be then. I'll be camped out at my nearest Toyota dealer the next day, IF Toyota prices it reasonably. And there's a hybrid option. Two big ifs.

Maybe we form a crew team? Must be a hybrid, must be reasonably priced for me as well. Ive been a long time Toyota customer. This will be my first Ford. They sold me on an inexpensive, hybrid pickup. I am their market for which it was made. I am the customer that Toyota doesn't want to lose. Im also hoping it stays more true to a pickup. The Santa Cruz just doesnt do it for me in the looks department.

This is a reasonable read, and I agree. Also, I know they can't possibly schedule or look out a year, but I sure do wish they had some system for saying, "Okay, look, you are NOT getting built," so those people could move on. This year-long hanging on the edge and hoping is a terrible business model.
We may not like it but I think it is a typical business model. They want to tie you up so you don't buy something else- unless it is another Ford of course.

Tim seemed to indicate Ford will save the hitches for the packages that include them. But we also don't know how many hybrids have hitches. If you have a hybrid order with a standalone hitch, you likely had better odds at the powerball last night.
Is there an aftermarket option for the hitch?

Probably! Looking over the numbers, I think the hitch thing will end up being a wash. Assuming a proportional number of hitch orders are both hybrid and EB, then the hitch over orders will be removed by the unbuilt hybrid orders. So, I don't think it is worth removing. The hybrid itself will prevent the build more than the hitch.

Because once Ford moves those MY22s back up at the end of the month, they will be put at the front of the line in front of any other MY23 hybrids. But Ford wasn't going to just not build anything for a month while the paperwork got lined up.

All that means is whatever little capacity there was already for MY23 hybrids will be taken by the cancelled MY22s once those orders roll over in a couple weeks... barring any other constraints.
Do you know this to be true or you just wishing? I’m wishing you are right.

My friend from the auto world tells me that despite supply problems manufacturers could build more hybrids but they don't want to because they make very little or even lose money. They want to offer them as part of the mix but want to limit the sales. Hybrids might also figure into their total vehicle gas mileage requirements and they only want to sell enough to help that.

Ford has said the cancelled VIN MY22s will be put back at Priority 2 upon conversion. That essentially means they are being scheduled. So, Ford won't even look at any other hybrids as long as there is capacity for those unless there is a constraint that prevents them from being scheduled.

Count me in the crew. This is my first and will be last Ford if it ever gets built. I've been waiting since October last year. If Toyota/Honda/Chevy anyone (not you Santa Cruz) comes out with a small hybrid pickup my money is going their way the next day.
