don't think it's ugly, know it's ugly. Ugh, had to cover part of the screen to reply.![]()
You think this is ugly?
OK, if no-one else has said it, I will. All that bumper and no fog lights?https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/com...A1399VA?cvid=91c16c2786f5400b94b7473081422d4f
Will be my pick, if Ford can not deliver my 2023 order

Polls suggested that a very significant percentage of Maverick buyers are first time truck buyers and were cross-shopping things like corollas and civics. I have no doubt that Toyota could build a comparable (if not better) product, but I'd bet they couldn't even get close to matching Ford's pricepoint. Hey, there's people out there paying $45k for Tacomas (that are slow, poor-handling, based on old tech - compared to the competition), but I certainly would not be one of them.Toyota already has an AWD Hybrid system that could be easily built into a truck like this. Plus you have Toyota reliability. While Ford is sleeping on those 1,000s of orders, watch Toyota slip in and grab the market.![]()
Not to mention time. If they only started development when the Maverick was revealed it probably would still take most manufacturers a few more years to get something to market. Maverick development took something like 3 years and that was with cutting 20 months off a typical design timeframe. Santa Cruz was a concept back in 2015.Many other automakers COULD make a small truck off one of their CUV platforms, but few would be willing to shave nickels like Ford to get to this price point.
But can't it be a clickbait render AND ugly?ahem.
IT IS A RENDER DONE FOR CLICKS
IT IS NOT OFFICIAL FROM TOYOTA
ITS A MAVERICK THAT SOME CLOWN SLAPPED SOME TOYOTA BITS ON FOR CLICKS
ANYONE COMMENTING THAT ITS UGLY IS AN IDIOT
It's better than a Santa Cruz, but not by much.![]()

I think you are correct. Ford would be dumb to leave the prices so low if demand is high. Of course inflation is already raising the price but it is raising the price of the competition also.My speculation, added to the huge pile already, and worth less than the price you paid for it...
There will be no battle for the bottom end of price. Anything anyone else builds will cost substantially more, and Ford will likewise continue to bump up the price until decreasing demand = improved production. If they make money at that spot, they will continue to be the budget truck leader.
If they can't make money there, the Maverick will have been a fun and temporary blip on the market.
AWD could have been done right from the beginning if they didn't insist on using almost the same suspension as what was being used on the recently discontinued Ford Fiesta cars. The only issue holding back AWD is there isn't room to fit in the AWD components using this suspension. I have no idea the rational for using 2 different suspensions except for them having a significant backlog of parts and they did it to use them up.The photos are all speculative based on existing models that toyota could adapt the sheet metal from.
My hope is that competition helps ensure an AWD hybrid maverick gets offered sooner.
it won't matter next 2 years if interest rates on loans are high enough. It is not the base price but the monthly payments that is going to crater the whole market unless people are willing to take out 10 year car loans.I think you are correct. Ford would be dumb to leave the prices so low if demand is high. Of course inflation is already raising the price but it is raising the price of the competition also.
It's entirely possible the Eco could be the cheaper option if hybrid components remain scarce and expensive. It's nice for Ford to be able to advertise a low price point but profit is way more important.
