Regardless, the point I'm making about the ugly looking vehicles is I refer to them as "toasters". If you buy something just because you just need point A to B transport, and you dont care what it looks like, you picked out and bought a "toaster".

A toaster is an appliance. Its neither fancy nor dull, it looks about the same as any other toaster out there. It does its job well and reliably for years toasting bread. The same goes for such a vehicle, it does its job reliably for years, and other than its exterior color, it pretty much looks like any other bland and boring vehicle out there. You picked out and bought a 4 wheeled appliance, a toaster.

Every car maker has its "toasters". However Kia and Hyundai low end models come to mind. My regular daily driver is a 2008 chevy HHR LS wagon. I make no bones about this one either. It fits the definition of a toaster. I should paint fake toast slots in the roof. I bought it because as a brand new car, I payed $13,815.43 out the door new off the lot. It had a 5 speed stick and nobody wanted it. That reason alone was why it was cheap. Its done its job reliably for almost 15 years now. I could care less if it gets door dinged or bumper tagged in a parking lot. I plan on keeping it when I get my maverick, because I will keep using it at the walmart, or Sam's club. Let it get bumper tagged, door dinged, or shopping cart smacked.

With only 30,000 or so RAV4 Prime (plug in) built and a wait longer than a Maverick for twice the price… Don’t expect a better hybrid compact pickup from Toyota until Janubuary 33rd 202C

I would much prefer if Toyota designed an actual small truck instead of modifying the Rav4 to be a truck. I've always liked Toyota vehicles when I grew up and this is my first Ford but I would be lying if I said that I wouldn't be interested in Toyota's product in this market. I love my Maverick but the only company that could make me switch is Toyota but this ain't it.

I find it hilarious that the article suggests that it could be branded as the "Toyota Stout".

In addition to the Maverick, perhaps it will also be positioned to compete head to head with the as-yet unannounced Chevy Lager and Stellantis Pale Ale. :ROFLMAO:

My Grandfathers uncles brothers grandson has a reliable suspicion that it will actually called the "Toyota Iceman". Take my word for it.

Kinda looks like a honda element and something from tron had a baby. But i also kinda like it. I regret to inform you that toyota is just as unlikely to deliver current model year vehicles lol our company‘s been waiting over 6 months with no end in sight for a pretty basic tundra
A little like the Santa Cruz too. The article showed a side picture
