With the tax credit ours came out pretty close to what it would have been for the hybrid. Add the fuel savings and the power available it was a no brainer. Definitely consider your driving habits. People that don't take the longer trips will benefit more. The more long trips you take that require gas will surely affect your overall mileage. We didn't want to go full electric because we do take longer trips, not just the 300 mile round trips. Our shorter commute and charging ability in the employee parking lot fits well for this vehicle.

Yes, you can add the audio package, which adds a bunch of other stuff, but there is no option to upgrade the dash. And then at that point anyway, you're back up to the cost of an XSE anyway.
Right, but in my case I absolutely do not want moonroof or power liftgate, so I'm glad there are options. Big screens aren't my thing.

I would pick if rav4 hybrid was offered with similar price and options as hybrid xl, even for $3k more. Entry point is big difference in price.

I have driven the Rav4 as a rental for two weeks and I have only had the Maverick for a few days. I do think the Rav4 rode a little better than the Maverick, but no way to do a side-by-side now. The information and entertainment system are better in the Maverick for syncing my phone. The Maverick interior looks like it will scratch easily but also seems easier to clean than the Rav4. City gas mileage has been great so far for the first 100 miles @ 39 MPG average and 51.9 MPG on my 12.9 mile trip back to the dealership which represents a daily drive to work for me in stop and go traffic. I will have to see how it does over time. I am getting twice the MPG of my 2012 Hyundai Genesis and enjoying the Maverick more than the Genesis. The Genesis was a lot smoother ride than the Maverick or Rav4, but I am getting older (51) and was tired of dropping down to sit down in the Genesis. The Maverick was worth the wait for me because I gained more than I lost. You will have to do the comparison for yourself. Renting the car alternate you are considering is a cheaper option than buying a car you won’t be happy with as others have suggested. Good luck. My Maverick showed up two weeks earlier than scheduled.

Well we went to two Toyota dealerships and I guess we were in the right spot at the right time. Made a deal on a fully loaded 2022 Prius Limited and was able to drive it home today. We originally went in looking for a Rav4 but the Prius exceeded our expectations. Ride quality was amazing, way better than my current Mazda and even the 2020 Rav4 XLE we test drove just to get a feel. Interior room was surprisingly large and offered plenty of leg room.

They didn't do ADM but there were $2,500 worth of "non-negotiable dealer add ons" that they did admit were highly marked up, but at least I got something out of that (window tint, all weather mats, wheel locks, and 4 years of maintenance).

Best of luck to everyone still waiting for a Maverick. Still seems like a great truck but perhaps wasn't right for my lifestyle. If you're in central Florida, mullinax ford Kissimmee will have one (eventually). Details of the build are in my signature.

I have a 2021 Escape Titanium hybrid with all gadgets including heads up display and self parking, built in nav, full up sync-3 with XM and AWD. 40+mpg and priced at 40k. Great suv and great value. My Mav is scheduled lariat, lux, 360 and while i look forward to getting it - the Escape has it beat hands down. I tested all the Hybrid SUV’s and based on price and quality it cannot be beat.
We currently have a 2006 Mariner V6 FWD that has a trailer hitch and 252K miles and it is still my daily driver for work, average about 21 MPG yearly, we also have a 2013 C-Max Energi (plug-in).

I live on 20 acres and my dad has 65 acres across the river, a small pickup like the maverick would be perfect for my family, we take the C-max on road trips but it has limited truck space due to the extra battery that allows it to go 20 miles in electric only mode.

Sounds like a great place to live.

Toyota acts like their hybrid powertrain is the 2nd coming of Christ & charges out the ass for it!!

I came to Maverick from the Honda CRV but I had a Rav4 before it. You can get a deal on Rav4 standard powertrain but unless something massive changed theres no deal on Rav4 hybrid youll wait for delivery AND the dealer will charge out the ass for hybrid, the Toyota faithful believe Toyota hybrid is the 2nd coming of christ, even though Toyota AISIN designed & built the 1st hybrid drive for Ford Escape and the virtual clone (to HF35 built for Ford) was only put in the Toyota rav4 3 years later.

If you dont ever need to haul a load go ahead with the Rav4 hybrid -- its msrp $3000ish more than a base XL Maverick hybrid awd and you can probably except dealer markup you certainly wont be getting a break, theres 10,000 Toyota devotees behind you praying to the magic god of Toyota hybrid synergy drive, who never got the memo that parallel-shaft hybrid shares virtually nothing in common with the orphaned series-shaft hybrid drive in the Prius - and disassembled is virtually indistinguishable to the untrained eye from the hybrid powertrains in the Ford's.

Toyota went all in playing the "best hybrid fuel economy at the cost of capability" with light weight electric motors on the rear wheels, while Ford with the HF55 went with a proper truck capability RDU.

Oh, also you have noticeably more room in Maverick over Rav4 or CRV the front cabin space is noticeably larger. Rear leg room feels about tied, but there is absolutely no contest you have significantly more room in Maverick than a Rav4

But get what you want.
I was used to fan cooled leather crv Limited edition seats, the Maverick has hard plastic trim & im kinda ok with it, does scratch but a rag & polish cleans it up.

Maverick is infinitely more capable, the 1st time you have to move or haul a load of sod or top soil bags you will be very glad for the Maverick.

I bought the base XL hybrid awd and I wont lie the steel wheels & oxford white look utilitarian like a utility truck compared to everyone's cool wheels here, but inside the base cloth seats feel as firm & supported as my former crv limited leather heated & cooled seats you dont need that really for cloth seats like you do leather.

I miss the right-turn blind spot camera from my crv, and the motorized mirrors - but getting camera crash-protection & emergency stopping & lane-change in my base XL has been amazing it has saved me from a crash after 8 hours driving in greater Detroit Michigan with their aggressive lane-cutting drivers, I was skeptical a camera system would work, it doesn't have the perfection of LIDAR radar lane-centering you do slowly drift to the dashed line before camera lane assist sends you back to the middle,
but boy oh boy its better than nothing. I can assure you Ford could've implemented adaptive cruise control with the camera, camera emergency braking takes you out of cruise you have to re-enable, but that would cut into their $2000 adaptive cruise option.

I kinda wish I had gotten adaptive cruise XLT but wasnt one available.

I far more enjoy the extra front arm & leg room of Maverick over crv & the last gen rav4 (i haven't driven the latest rav4) and you dont realize everything you can do & haul with a bed until you have one!!
If you ever wanted to just up & drive on a camping trip, a truck bed tent means you sleep anywhere, off the ground, throw it & air mattress in back, throw an ebike in back, hit the road. Crv or rav4 bike rack for a heavy ebike is no fun and both crv & rav4 come with a shitty 1inch hitch option youre gonna have to remove & install your own 2inch to hold any decent bike rack or rear basket. Ask me how I know.

Maverick base model comes out the gate with a proper 2inch hitch and the trailer lighting connector.

If its a choice of 1 vehicle its no contest Maverick hybrid AWD, 2 vehicles the 2nd might be a crv.

Probably not an issue with newer Rav4 but handling wise the rav4 4th gen was fucking dogshit on banked freeway on & off ramps, leaned like a jacked up truck, absolutely ridiculous! Rav4 has always had good freeway speed handling you can take curved freeway ramps 20mph over posted speeds, & surprisingly the Maverick suspension matches a rav4 for highway on-ramps it takes a lot of speed to get rear tires to start breaking traction,
the Rav4 limited edition i tested had horrid handling just vile, but I understand they got their act together for the 5th gen, I had trepidation on breaking from rav4 crv world all the way till I test drove Maverick & found some steep hilly backroads.

Also I bought a $400 3-fold hard tonneau on Amazon & its been through multiple hard rainstorms no leaks - maybe because I actually read installation instruction manuals unlike some bozos.

Im never going back to comparatively tight leg room crv for 8 hour drives to Michigan & Wisconsin!

As far as Prius it is bullet proof and acceptable acceleration up to 70k miles but it starts becoming anemic on hills and at 120k I have had some white-knuckle freeway merges in a Prius that thing is nightmare-inducing on urban freeway short onramps how sluggish it is, I mean worse than a friggin Kia Forte.

We will see how Maverick Hybrid acceleration at 100k, so far its better than CRV which is more than good enough for me.

Oh & Sync4 is absolutely amazing, Honda had great handling but their center console is god awful bullshit you have to re-pair your phones to, the most unintuitive layout youre pulling out the manual for everything, Sync 4 remembers your phone podcast & its ready to go when you get in, voice commands all work fast, messages and voice to text response is amazing, I love Honda handling & driving but their center console was developed by mentally challenged drug addicts or something.

If you love touching your soft dashboard, crv or rav4 is the only way to go, but if not addicted to caressing your dash, Maverick all the way.

Sounds like you’re trying to talk yourself out of the Maverick. I really doubt that the paint and interior quality is any different between the two. From the Ford notice, it sounds like you will get your truck if you’re willing to wait for it. My January order is a different matter. I am looking at the Bronco Sport now. I know you want a hybrid though. Have you found many Rav4’s on the lot? Take a look at the features you get for your money. My daughter in law ordered a Rav4 recently and was disappointed that it didn’t have a power lift gate. That seems like it should be a standard feature in this day and age.

Check out the Prius forum and some videos on the cargo capacity.
I had a Prius it is indestructible & amazing mpg, Also tiny front seat & leg room & very noisy from bare bones insulation, mpg above all else.

They also become incredibly sluggish acceleration at 70k mile mark, going uphill sounds like a lawnmower loud, while crawling & everyone passing you, they are NOT the vehicle for long drives through West Virginia or Shanandoa Valley Virginia,
the newest Prius is quite nice IMO, the earlier ones had a maddening forktruck beep beep beep going whenever you were in reverse it was fucking maddening trying to back into a driveway while getting directions from someone outside.

You also do NOT want to be driving a Prius in Michigan heavy snow in January, very low sedan road clearance,
I traded the Prius in after a Michigan winter, screw the gas savings over a CRV you cant save money when your stuck in a snow drift in your Prius freezing to death waiting 4 hours for a tow.
There's a reason everyone went for crossover SUVs
But if you want the best mpg you cant beat the Prius.

The Prius is a maverick with a high tonneau cover already installed that gets better mileage and like the last person said is indestructible. Totally proven powertrain.
The Prius is a Maverick with worse ground clearance than not just Maverick but just any basic crossover, driving into a snowstorm it doesnt take much snow on the road to get stuck, & any tiny pothole will both blow a tire and scrape your oilpan and all you can say is "thank God its a steel oil pan & survived".
