1. I'm happy that I got in when I did. Serendipidy.

2. I wonder when they'll start making these in the correct proportions.

3. It seems rather backward thinking to plan on more gas than hybrid.

4. Where's the EV? There's an ev tax credit of $7500 for pickups that cost less than &80,000. Can you imagine a similar platform with $75000 of battery in it. Shoot, you could put $10,000 of battery in it and charge $3000 more and it would still be a steal. I know engineering these things takes time, but it's not like there aren't other people that have been able to see the trend. (rivian, Tesla...) I guess they're betting and still working on the lightning. 🤷‍♂️ I went in to the dealer looking for at the lightning and walked out and ordered a Maverick. I just don't want or need that much truck. I'd love a commuter EV truck with a modest range at a lower price. I know in not everyone, but I bet there are more like me.

I don't recall where, but saw a news story the other day where they lined up ten of the most popular Electric vehicles currently available and went down the line one by one -- exactly NONE of them qualified for the new tax credit. The fine print is a killer, it must cost X amount, be produced in the U.S., etc, etc. Not ONE of them would be eligible.

That sounds incorrect because Teslas top the list and most of those should be eligible. Bolt and Mach-E as well. Nissan Leaf isn't super popular these days but also qualifies. Rivians and Lightnings although they aren't being produced in huge numbers yet.

There are a lot of restrictions on where the materials/batteries are sourced from.

“The EV tax credit requirements will make most vehicles immediately ineligible for the incentive,” wrote John Bozzella, president and CEO of the Alliance for Automotive Innovation, an auto industry trade group.

Fortunately I am in no rush to get it as I’m perfectly happy with my ‘19 Ranger but looking forward to better fuel mileage and smaller size which suits my needs better. Time will tell
With that record I would have bailed on Ford. Good luck!
Yeah, the problem is GM doesn't make anything I want, and I'm not a huge fan of Chrysler as a brand. And I really don't want to buy Japanese...

Yes, so some like the Teslas with Chinese LFP battery packs are immediately out. The others I've listed the sourcing isn't as publicly available in conjunction with the formulas for calculating the necessary percentages being still in the works, though. The lobbying from the Korean automakers might also see some of that easing.

That explains why Tesla is so motivated to start making their own batteries by building a plant in Texas: they know they'll sell even more vehicles if their cars become eligible for the tax credit.

An ev Maverick with 200miles range under $32k base would become their best seller instantly. Hell, the 40k lightning would be it now, if they let an anyone buy it.

To me Chrysler always sucked. The Jeep fanboys are what is keeping it alive. Agree to what you said about GM. I never had great luck with Ford's but the Mav is exactly what I need. Hope my luck changes.

Chrysler does suck. Made the mistake of buying my wife a Grand Cherokee back in the day. Sold it with less thank 30K miles. Never again.

Imagine if they had launched the Hybrid in awd... the EcoBoost would have been completely ignored.
I could not resist have one hybrid in garage bought when it came available but in the order frenzy for 2023's I bought avalanche grey Tremor AWD not completely loaded. Now got to figure out if I can afford to keep it.

I just got rid of an old Grand Cherokee. The 4.0 still ran like a top but man absolutely everything around it fell apart. Everybody I've talked to with a newer Chrysler product says they're kind of a POS. Granted, that's anecdotal but I've never been impressed. I will admit their cars and trucks look good, though.

Had an old chrysler made Jeep Cherokee with the AMC straight 6. Engine was great. The car looked great. But everything else rotted out.

Does dodge/chrysler offer any fuel efficient vehicles? Trucks/Jeeps and Hellcats are all i see.

I believe the extended range pack production were/are still stateside, but it helped cut costs and increase volume to start bringing over the Standard Range models with the LFP batteries from China.

Pacifica Hybrid. There's also the 4Xe PHEV Jeeps although they aren't extraordinarily fuel efficient once they use up their initial charge.
