Road test reviews are everywhere. Generating a lot of interest. Ford has the truck completed..so why are they letting SC dominate the net?

How hard would it be to let journalists drive and write about it?

Is there a problem we don't know about?

Just wondering.

They just started producing production models. Give it some time. Everything that is out there now is pre production, and a big liability if someone else drives them.

The Santa Cruz went into production about a month before the Maverick.

We should start seeing Mav test drive reviews in September.

If you look at social media presence (between a really great forum and a very active subreddit), the Maverick is blowing the Santa Cruz out of the water. Once Media Drives finish on the Maverick and the embargo is lifted, you'll be asking yourself "Santa Who?"

Does anyone know when the embargo for the maverick is being lifted?

What embargo?
currently there is an embargo for the press those who've had a maverick for test/review can't post anything until the video embargo is released(first stage) then there is a second embargo for driving impressions that usually goes at least one extra month.

This is standard practice for all vehicle launches from all manufacturers, no nothing new or nefarious(before someone tries to throw shit at the wall), I just don't know the date for the maverick.

For reference, the embargo for the SC was lifted on 8/11.

There are road tests and journalist drives because it is on a timeline that started 2 months before the Maverick...

So if the Hyundai embargo on journalist reviews ended around the time the vehicle hit the showrooms...what can we infer will occur with the Maverick here? That it will have the embargo lifted right around the time they start to hit showrooms...or should I say that retail assigned buyers start to receive their trucks? Being that Hyundai has a garbage reservation process?

Let Santa Cruz have its 15 minutes of fame.. The Maverick reviews will be coming in the next few weeks. They just started retail production last week right? Give them a few weeks to get those early builds up here and into the hands of the media. Like kingranchero said, "santa who?"

Dominating the internet means nothing(at least not to me). 4-5 months ago I was resolved that either the Ridgeline or Santa Cruz were probably best suited for me,but I wasn't satisfied. I stumbled across the Maverick, and in 4-5 days placed my order. Lack of road tests and journalists' opinions don't mean much to me. The Maverick just struck the right cord.

Wonder whether Ford will make a few hybrids for the media or whether they will just give them ecoboosts to test (which would defeat the “first standard hybrid pickup” marketing).

Maverick just started production last week. Santa Cruz has been in production nearly 2 months.
Journalists have not driven the Maverick yet, the media launch has not happened yet.
The trucks have to be produced before the media can drive and review them.
Hyundai is simply a couple months ahead on the schedule.
You will see Maverick reviews about the time they start landing on dealer lots.

We are getting bombarded by Santa Cruz commercials now. Hyundia has a headstart and are using it to their advantage. I see the Santa Cruz buyer and the Maverick buyer as two different people anyway. Informal poll in our neighborhood has it 6 Santa Cruz to 4 Mavericks. It is easy to see why each neighbor gravitates to their chosen tuck model.

The Santa Cruz looks to me like an updated Subaru Baja. Not appealing to me. Doesn't resemble a pickup like the Maverick does.

I am a Hyundai guy. Last 4 cars have been Hyundai's. Run great. Dependability means everything to me. All bought slightly used.

Was interested in the SC but the pricing is nuts! I have ordered a well equipped Lariat Hybrid with sunroof for less than 30K. That would be at least $8K more on a SC.

No thanks. First car was a 72 LTD. It's back to the Blue Oval for me.

The press will blow the Maverick up once they can. This thing is gonna sell gangbusters. Look for tons of municipalities buying white XL's with steelies and a hybrid for about $26K to replace all sorts of trucks.
