I am a Hyundai guy. Last 4 cars have been Hyundai's. Run great. Dependability means everything to me. All bought slightly used.

Was interested in the SC but the pricing is nuts! I have ordered a well equipped Lariat Hybrid with sunroof for less than 30K. That would be at least $8K more on a SC.

No thanks. First car was a 72 LTD. It's back to the Blue Oval for me.

The press will blow the Maverick up once they can. This thing is gonna sell gangbusters. Look for tons of municipalities buying white XL's with steelies and a hybrid for about $26K to replace all sorts of trucks.
I hope you are right. But after the Bronco hard roof disaster I worry about quality.
If the quality is good and no design gremlins
(eg, like the TFL guys sit on the tailgate and it collapses) it will be an absolute winner.

Dominating the internet means nothing(at least not to me). 4-5 months ago I was resolved that either the Ridgeline or Santa Cruz were probably best suited for me,but I wasn't satisfied. I stumbled across the Maverick, and in 4-5 days placed my order. Lack of road tests and journalists' opinions don't mean much to me. The Maverick just struck the right cord.
My sentiments exactly.

Santa Cruz: Not a hybrid. Much more expensive. And of the media coverage I've seen to date, several writers mention that it really doesn't have the utility nor "feel" of a pick-up truck, and wonder what market segment(s) Hyundai is trying to straddle with it.
Look, I'm a big fan of South Korean-made cars. Had a Kia Rondo and it was one of the best new vehicles I've ever owned (and I've owned over 30 in my life). Now I own a Hyundai Ioniq, and love everything about it (especially the 65mpg it gets). But I just don't think the SC will be a toe-to-toe competitor versus the Maverick. So, let it enjoy its time as the subject of media attention.
