So I'm with my wife in my new Maverick (4 months old) and stop at the car wash for the 1st time to get it all shiny for the trip to CostCo and after paying for the service told to put the car in neutral like I've done many times before with other cars so no problem. Feel the rollers of the car wash track try and take me in but instead roll under my tires. I'm told I have the parking break on and I assure him I do not, he tryst again same thing. I had the electronic break assist on , although I was in neutral that doesn't disengage and it won't in neutral you have to put it into park or drive. So don't be me.

Can't really see the use for that. I've done just fine all this time without it. Another thing to go wrong.

Been there. I was dinking with the buttons waiting in the car wash line wash and forgot I had it on and sorted it out after the rollers went under the rear wheels and the attendant gave me the WTF look. Been through that car wash a dozen times with the Mav and never had this issue so my advice is don't dink with stuff while in the car wash.

Yes, you need to disable brake hold for a car wash. This is different than some other cars. Nissan cars automatically disable it when shifted to neutral. German cars don't even have a switch for it, it's on by default, but not in neutral. Odd that Ford leaves it active at all times.

Makes sense from liability standpoint.

I really like the brake hold feature in traffic.

Check manual specific setting for car wash, to roll without brake etc. I do not remember what it is but it only stays in that mode for 30 minutes, I think.

Same thing happen to me.
Here's what I did:
Put truck in neutral
Press down the black L button in center of transmission shifter
Screen comes up on dash
Press the OK button on the steering wheel
You now have 30 minutes of free rolling in neutral
Good Luck

I think I will like that brake hold feature. I stay away car washes. Foam cannon is the only way my rigs get clean.

Okay, stupid question as I am still waiting for my build date. What is the brake hold feature in the first place? Is it on Eco boost and hybrid models?

When pushed yellow light comes on and when you come to complete stop (at stop light or?) You can take foot off brake and brake will remain on until go pedal is pushed and it will stay on and light will stay on so you can tell it's on. When in car wash be sure this light is off, put dial in neutral and push the "L" button in center of selector knob. Truck will stay in neutral for 30 minutes or until battery gets low. This allows you to get out of truck while it's on without dropping into park (park happens whenever you exit vehicle while it's on in any gear). If you want to flat tow truck there is a different procedure that prevents the automatic parking.

I’m just glad you guys are screwing up for me. I’m still probably going to do it though, becuse I have the memory and attention span of a gold fish.

This has to be the dumbest "feature" I've ever read about. I guess holding a brake pedal in traffic is just too much to ask from the modern day driver....

Me too. My anxiety about going into a car wash has returned reading this thread. I hope I can remember, NEUTRAL-L-OK
