This has to be the dumbest "feature" I've ever read about. I guess holding a brake pedal in traffic is just too much to ask from the modern day driver....
I love this feature! Makes for much more relaxing driving.

At 71, I don't think I'm a "modern day driver", but I do like the feature. My 2019 Tucson had it. I got used to it, and hated driving the girlfriend's car, because it didn't have it, and there was a creeping issue. When you're stuck at a long light,it is a nice feature. Was so glad it was there on the Mav.

I love the Auto brake hold as well. My first vehicle that's had it.
If I want a leg workout, I drive my '68 Mustang with manual drum brakes through town!

So I'm with my wife in my new Maverick (4 months old) and stop at the car wash for the 1st time to get it all shiny for the trip to CostCo and after paying for the service told to put the car in neutral like I've done many times before with other cars so no problem. Feel the rollers of the car wash track try and take me in but instead roll under my tires. I'm told I have the parking break on and I assure him I do not, he tryst again same thing. I had the electronic break assist on , although I was in neutral that doesn't disengage and it won't in neutral you have to put it into park or drive. So don't be me.
I’ve had a similar problem but I learned that you need to disengage the electronic brake, it’s embarrassing I know but if you look at the instrument cluster, it should tell you what to do

I totally agree with you. It adds needless complication and failure points to the brake system.

just an easy to do feature that cost Ford near zero because of electric parking brake. I’ve used it, but it times out and vehicle goes into park

Me too. My anxiety about going into a car wash has returned reading this thread. I hope I can remember, NEUTRAL-L-OK
If it is a car wash where you stay in the vehicle, and the chain pulls you through, there is really no need to press the L button, just put it in N. At the end you just turn the dial to D and drive away. If you engage the L button you have to put it in Park first, which I find inconvenient at the end of the car wash.

Happened to me at the carwash ONCE, forgot to disengage the auto hold. I hope I don't do it again. It's a great feature and I like it.

Been there. I was dinking with the buttons waiting in the car wash line wash and forgot I had it on and sorted it out after the rollers went under the rear wheels and the attendant gave me the WTF look. Been through that car wash a dozen times with the Mav and never had this issue so my advice is don't dink with stuff while in the car wash.
I worked a car wash for Two Guys a Department store that was in NJ. I can't tell you how many times I seen those brake lights come on and the car hop the roller. Yet the driver insisted he never touched the brakes. Seen them steer it of the track too. Guess when I get my truck will have to figure all that out.

I wash once in a while with a bucket of soapy water and a garden hose.
Is this forbidden?

Yes. You at least have to upgrade to the "two bucket" method.

But all joking aside, if you hand wash, do consider the two bucket method. It isn't that much of a hassle but does help avoid scratches and swirls.

I love this feature. Would you consider cruise control a dumb feature because holding the gas pedal to maintain forward momentum is too much to ask?

Its like cruise control for the brakes because it allows my leg a break while waiting for the lights to turn green on my way to work. My other car doesn't have it and after 45 minutes I need to start left foot braking to avoid a leg cramp.
