Became a member of the dead maverick hybrid club today, just about the same scenario that everyone else has had. I believe our engineers at ford really need to figure this electrical issue out,and spread the word to our local dealers.
This issue is really concerning with more and more reports of it happening.

Yes! I have been living in denial for the past 5 months, thinking, "not me". Like Powerstroke46 said, I joined the DEAD MAVERICK HYBRID CLUB this week!
Repair Day #2 - no word from Dealer Service Dept.

I really hope Ford finds the issue and it’s an easy fix for you and everyone else that is having it. My current vehicle has been reliable and it’s a 2008. I need the Mav to be reliable.

Ok here’s my opinion, the 470 CCA rating is Cold Cranking Amps with a fully charged battery. What hasn’t ever been mentioned is the battery’s reserve capacity for long term capability like a deep cycle battery is rated.

A standard lead acid battery and deep cycle batteries are different animals. I don’t care if it’s AGM or not.. Deep cycle battery doesn’t charge fast nor does it deplete quickly with a constant load. The charge cycle is the downside but the depletion rate is the upside. Also the deep cycle suffers CCA ability for the same footprint.

I hope this makes sense…

You are a very patient man. Did you put the charger on the battery under the back seat?
I did not buy a car to have to put it on a trickle charger every night! Ford and I may be going to war if they do not solve and remedy this problem.

yah no kidding....so far my issues are whistling noise from front glass (windshield or door windows) at any speed above 40mph, some knocking sounds from dash on gravel or un smooth roads, and getting the deep sleep messages on ford pass every now and then with one dead start requiring a jump in the morning. i know its only a 20k truck but come on...these are just basic things and ford has been making cars for like a hundred years, you think they would have nailed it down by now.

edit: i put the trickle charger under the hood. it was done this morning at 6 amps 12 volts ove rnight so hopefiully its fine forever now

They supposedly fixed my Hybrid which had a similar problem by doing a software update. They also replaced my 12v battery initially which didn't solve the issue. My battery drain was so bad it completely drained the battery down to 2 volts. I don't know if that was bullsh!t that they just told me and they didn't want to admit they had to do a mickey mouse job fixing a loose solder connection or something but my ICE never went out like yours did so it sounds like it could be a different problem.

BUG THEM FOR A LOANER! A 2 week repair can easily turn into a month-month 1/2.

Assume you haven't had any issues since the dealer "repair". Since they said they did a software update to rectify the issue do you mind if I ask when yours was built? Wondering if they did a software change at some point during the production year like the change for the overheating cats.

Cheers.

No issues so far. Mine was built in late November/Early December. It was the ECU software they updated, not the radio/infotainment system software. I unfortunately don't know what version the old one was or the new one is. I think you need ForScan to find out.

I tried the trickle charger but it couldn’t keep up with how fast the battery drains.
Now I have installed a kill switch on the battery to “solve” the issue. That is because Ford dealer claimed they cannot reproduce any issue with the battery. (Which is silly because I can measure a large discharge very easily after a few hours)

@Flomounier1 would you be willing to share the name/location of your dealer?
I see you are near LA, which is close enough that I could maybe try your dealer to do the software update.

I used to get the deep sleep mode intermittently from February through March. The truck would start fine, and I thought maybe it was the dash cam with parking mode that was draining the battery. So I disabled the parking mode and stopped getting the deep sleep notifications. It's been working fine until yesterday when the truck had zero power like others have experienced on this forum.

Jump started it, took it immediately to the dealership, and on the way there I got a check engine light with the message "The powertrain control module has detected the power relay de-energized earlier than expected." The truck was running purely on HEV mode, no combustion engine at all. Technician checked the battery and it was in excellent condition, so he suspects that it's the known electrical issue that HEV Mavericks have. But I probably won't get my truck back for 2 weeks :(
Hello there. Could you please send over a private message with your VIN and the name/location of the Ford dealer you are working with? I would like to look into this loss of power issue you are experiencing.
