Your topic of cabin noise is just what I wanted to know. However I have a question to throw out there. Has anyone any info window deflectors and noise with the door windows opened a crack? My current ride is a 2015 Mazda CX-5. We like to drive with windows cracked for some fresh air while running errands. Too cool outside to warrant A/C but we don't like a stuffy ride. The air circulation mode doesn't cut it. This Mazda doesn't have window deflectors and the cabin noise is very bothersome. My Maverick is due to be built 06/06 and I wonder if installing deflectors would help keep the cabin noise to a minimum.

This is the first truck I've owned with a power rear slider and it definitely helps with the breeze if you have the front windows cracked

Thanks for the info but my xlt only came a manual rear slide or none at all. I opted for the manual. May have to have one of the grands open and close it when they're on board

Not to argue or dismiss your results but this months issue of C&D did a comparison test and part of the test is measuring the sound levels.

Here are the results from the test. At the bottom you can see under the Sound Level section at idle/full throttle the dBA was 33/72 and at a 70-mph cruise it was 67 dBA. Here's a scan of the article so you can see the trim level.

No offense taken at all. My test was done with a phone and app so the results were crude at best. I trust the CD numbers way more.

Another thing to consider is that absolute sound levels are a bit useful, but not that much when determining how a human will respond to noise in a vehicle - though weighting helps a lot. I recall reading articles that talked about how incredibly detailed the work of automotive sound engineers is. Some frequencies annoy more than others. Fixing one noise source might bring another into prominence. I'm happy there are professionals like that to take care of this stuff.

And of course noise comes in so many variants, from resonance to flutter to rattles. I mean, we love high intensity sound in the form of music. As a former aviator, I can promise you you wouldn't like it in the form of a C-130 auxiliary power unit (aka a small turbine at ear level).

I just did a quick and dirty test on my Hybrid XLT.

At 70mph the average was 64db
At 55 mph the average was 60db
sitting in my garage was 18-19db with no sound.

My test results are much closer to what C&D got in their testing. Noticed C&D did their test on an XLT... but could a lariat really have 10 db worth of sound reduction? I have a hard time believing the noise reducing windshield would have that much of an effect.

I'll explore it with my calibrated mic next week. My experience, which is what really matters, is that it is pleasant to listen to. No annoying frequencies. It is loud when you wind out the engine, but I expect that from a 4 cyl. and kind of like it.
The blower for the a/c can be loud but I am thankful for how quick it cools the truck. The pedestrian alarm is annoying but it is amazing how much louder it is on the outside of the truck than in. Mine doesn't shut off till I am going 30mph. I feel like I'm piloting a spaceship down residential streets even though it is barely perceptible in the cab. The front speakers vibrate the door when played at moderate levels. I'm going to fix that with new speakers and matting.
The truck seems to isolate ouside noises well. I'm on loud construction sites a lot. phone calls in the truck do well even using the speaker phone. It is almost better than my office.

I never understood everyone poo-pooing the Mavericks road noise. I thought it was unremarkable and comparable or better than other similar vehicles I'd driven in the past.

To be fair, I also drive with my windows down all the time so it's not like a little road noise bothers me.
Quieter is better if you’re listening to music.

I‘ve got a db meter and an XL. I’ll give it a try.

All these numbers sound silent in comparison to an old Honda, aluminum-chassis daily driver I had years ago. This was AFTER installing 130lb of MLV, butyl panel dampening, and decoupling foam between them, on the floors and halfway up the walls/doors...

Ford Maverick Interior road noise sound level comparison. Maverick = 49.5 decibels a-weight

The acoustic treatments didn't change the SPL, but it shifted everything down in the spectrum - it was far less annoying at lower frequencies. This was with a calibrated SPL meter held at driver ear level, Oregon roads at only 55mph. Cross the border into Washington State and it would drop 12dB.

People complaining about Maverick road noise don't know what noise is. The Maverick may not be as quiet as a V6 F150 where all four wheels are further away from the cabin, but it's quieter than a lot on the road, and much quieter than the common hatchback.

Road tires will also be quieter than all-terrains. Low rolling resistance tires will be louder.

I have a lariat lux with tow and it seems to be quite noisy actually. I don’t was surprised at this. I’m coming from a 2018 King Ranch 150 and 2009 Acura TSX. Both seemed much more quiet. Anything you all have done to improve the wind noise?

This is EXACTLY the information/thread I was looking for!!

I just sold my 2017 Subaru CrossTrek, which was a great car, because the interior noise at 70-75mpg was 81db!! I drive 100 miles a day to work and it was grinding on me.

This helps in deciding if I'm going to order a Maverick or not! Thanks for posting!!

The profile of the noise also looks much more pleasing.
Many times just drive without radio on....very quiet....now if I can just get rid of the right side door and dash rattle....
