The catalytic converter got cut from my old Accord, so not the biggest thing. I'll live though. 😆
Sorry to hear that. I know a guy that had a cat stolen, so he welded a cage around the new cat and the thieves slashed his tires instead. You can't win with those types.

Odds of most people not reading and many parts of our trucks being total trash are about even, I'd wager. Either way, I can't wait to get mine :p

Had the same issue with the latch after installing a car seat. Read the manual and still couldn't get it to work. In frustration, I slammed the seat back and low and behold...click. For giggles, I tried it again and again, and closing with a good amount of force is the only way to get it to latch. Added lube, checked clearance, movement...etc, and nothing has helped. Another gripe: Really wish the rear bench was split so I wouldn't have to lose that storage space when a car seat's in there.

I had this problem too. But I did not look at the manual. I checked the backside of the seat to see where the latch was...discovered it was on the passenger side. I pushed on the passenger side and low and behold it latched.

But I agree that it takes too much force to get it latched...I will learn to live with it though...

I guess I'm in the middle. I acknowledge that it is not a good design. However, if I just push firmly the seat closed in the spot where the latch is, it latches. So I am glad it is something easy to work around, but would prefer it just work right. It would be nice to close from the driver's side.

Now, I hope this is the most severe of problems I have with my Maverick!!

Well I hope they get better at fitting the latches. And it cracks me up how many things one should read the manual for (not just vehicles)...

I have the same issue. I cannot believe Ford's parts are so shitty that I have to slam my back seat for it to latch.
I added a 2 mm shim behind the latch and it works perfect now.

So, one guy has a tight latch which isn't actually broken? Get the torches and pitchforks!
Got my Maverick today. Have been reading the manual for months. Tried to latch the seat today (from the passenger side) and it simply won’t. Not with any amount of slamming or working the latch back and forth a few times manually.

Don't worry. It's not you that's the problem here.

1. Hold the seatback halfway between the rear wall and the seat bottom.

2. Place your palm at the location of the latch on the front of the seatback.

3. Push it back quickly and with follow through from your palm.

Good luck and let us know how it goes because I struggled with this both on a test drive and with my own vehicle. Made me question my sanity and knowledge because it's literally a latch.

It is a pain, but most produced do latch. Easy dealer fix or DIY project. A shim appears to work. Motor on.

This has been mentioned before, seem to recall the easy fix is to put a washer behind the latch that the seat clamps to

Is everyone latching the seat from the passenger side as recommended in the owners manual?

Thanks for this info. I have not tried to move the seat. I guess I will just leave it, until I have to get back there.

Yeah, we’ll just have to agree to disagree on this one. A DIY shim on day one of a $33,000 car isn’t in the cards for me.
