I'll be honest, this thread has me tempted to see if I can design a pen- and- notebook holder for the cubby. Something that can take one of my fat 3D printed fountain pens, and maybe a small "passport" notebook.

Early today I went to take my final measurements and found another god damn mid-tapper. After some consideration I think I can ignore it for now. It shouldn't interfere with putting things in, but it may prevent a 'perfect fit.'

Regardless, I've gotten my first printable prototype ready.

The box is on the left. The small blue button should interlock with the divot in the cubby to help lock it in.

The red rod should help to release that button.

I'll try to get this printed by Friday, but my work schedule is largely in the field this week so I wont be around the printer a lot.

Hell yeah 👍

If you wanna share the stl or link your thingiverse / whatever I can print it tonight and let you know what it shapes up as measurements wise.

Anyone made a cubby insert with a universal ball that most of the phone mounts out there use? I’d love to have one like that where I can put one of my magnetic iPhone charging mounts there

I've been working on some enhancements / tweaks to existing designs to suit them to my purposes and recently added a few custom ones (FITS slot for the cubby, HAM Radio stand). I'm currently working on a semi-generic phone holder for my work phone and some on the door FITS slots for holding a flashlight, glass breaker, etc.

If you've got any ideas, please share and I will take a crack at them!

Could you provide the Etsy link? I’d like to see how that one looks. I’m building a RAM mount that will fit in the tray behind the 8” screen that I’ll be able to attach 2 RAM mounts to it with magnetic chargers & am looking to mount 1 more to the top underside of the cubby with 3M tape that will still allow use of the cubby for storing Tic Tacs or whatever.
I’ll post pics when I get to making it…

Thanks

Doing a test print right now. My big concern is that I might've made everything too shallow, but we won't know until about this time tomorrow morning at the earliest.

I think that cubby would be a perfect spot for some sort of classic automotive styled analog clock.
