Ford Maverick Low Profile FITS Slot Cupholder 3D printed for 2022 Maverick FITS Slot Cupholder Ford Maverick 5

I designed this low profile cupholder for the maverick. It’s perfect size and doesn’t take long to print about 4hrs total. It works on many different size cups.

Before anyone asks; the CAD for just the slot piece is available on my other thread see here: https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/fits-adapter-that-just-fits.

I will post the thingiverse for this soon. I’m also going to print one in XLT orange!!

NOTE: don’t use pla filament as it will deform when it’s hot outside

I would assume its fine, but have you weight tested it? I've never dabbled with 3D printing but I've always questioned the size of the FIT slot and whether or not a cup holder there could hold two full sized mugs full of drink while the truck is bouncing around down the road.

I designed it well. It’s super strong I could put a 10 lb weight on the cupholder and it still wouldn’t break.

Flawed design. Without at least an L shaped bottom bracket paper cups will wedge in it and lids will pop off when pulling them out, especially with kids in the backseat. See Yeti’s design for a window cup holder.

Not flawed if you don't use paper or Styrofoam cups... alot of ppl are moving to tumblers but I mean if you asked nicely instead of telling him it's flawed I bet he'd design one with a bar just for you. Or better yet you could design one or just buy yeti...

I think for most cups and tumblers there is no need for this bottom L piece and cups would actually fit tighter without it. In this current design the cup slides down until it’s tight so it’s stopped by friction. With the above design it possible that a cup would be resting on the L piece and fit rather loosely. I get the argument about Styrofoam and paper being too pliable for this style of cup holder. Putting an L bracket wouldn’t be hard to design. I could do it in 10 minutes. But 3D printed plastic like common PETG or ABS isn’t as strong as injection molded plastic. If I printed one like the 2nd picture you have here it would actually snap quite easily. So I would need to design it to utilize some sort of arch and thicker geometry to give the required support. This would take more material and significantly longer print times. It would no longer be “low profile”
