I dont think thes mean anything like your in some sort of lun

I think part of that had to do with issues at the beginning of production causing rescheduling of some vehicles. Those are now getting built. Now that a bunch of that is fixed, the issues they are having is chip allocation for different Lux packages along with copilot 360.

I have no doubt that most of these orders will get built, and some of the ones that won't get built will be the ones that require a lot of microprocessors for extra stuff like lux and copilot 360. That's where the next bottleneck is.

Yes I knew that going in, and dont mind waiting. That's not what I have a problem with. It's the naysayers that are saying if a dealer gets only so many allocations and they have double the customer order vs the allocations they normally have that ford is gonna say well tough shit.

I dont believe they will do that. Not if they can build them all. If they can, they will. The customer order system is likely based on when 90% of the vehicles sold were dealer inventory, and 10% were special orders where you pick exactly what you want like I did with my 2007 mustang GT. With the maverick, it turned it all upside down where nearly 100% are customer orders.
You’re right… too many people are getting wound up rather than just waiting it out. I think both of us are happy to be patient for the $3k savings!

I found a really effective way to quit worrying about the wait, at least in regards to my XL. All you have to do is figure out your price, tax included...mine is going to be $20410. Then you type that number into just about any car search engine or online dealer, select truck as the vehicle type, and immediately feel better about waiting on your Maverick as you stare down 10 year old Frontier King Cabs with 100k on them, 15 year old Ridgelines, 3rd generation Rangers, and F-150s with 150-200k. Let's say you open up that search to include SUVs and you want something with less than 50k...come on down! You're the next contestant with a chance to win a 5 year old Kia Soul!

:)All kidding aside, it's a nice reminder of how good this deal is and what I'm going to settle for if I want to stick to the budget. For me, I made the stupid mistake of buying a more expensive truck and was lucky to ship it to Carvana and not lose my hide. Not everyone is able to wait, completely understand that. What's out there is just so brutal on the checkbook.

I agree 100% it's just stupid to pay money like that on a half worn out or completely worn out used vehicle. I am using this time driving my worn out 2008 chevy HHR that's been payed for to save up the extra money needed for a down payment. With the Granger discount my XLT AWD comes out to $24,250 I'm playing the long game. Started saving for a replacement vehicle last year, I'm about half way there.

I would make a bet that if you spent the same money on a half worn Toyota… the Toyota will still be running in 20 years.

not the mav

Why will the mav be out of commission in 20 years?

We know interior is cheap but the engine is a good one.

I dunno about that. I would beg to differ. I have a 1994 chevy silverado I bought new and have taken good care of. I would not hesitate to take it on a 3 hour trip. That truck is 28 years old, still has the original engine, clutch and transmission. None of it has ever been apart.

Toyotas had that reputation of being built solid like that. Other manufacturers have caught on. Also a lot of how long a vehicle lasts is also the result of maintenance or lack of it.

Turbo engines require fastidious maintenance. Most people wont do that because they dont understand turbos. I used to drive a dodge Daytona shelby years ago. I sold it with a lot of miles on it. 2.2 turbo ll. The turbo still worked fine at 160K, no issues with the bottom end. I used to run it hard, but used to keep it well maintained including oil and filter changes frequently with synthetic oil. I will be doing the same with the maverick after break in.

I would also bet on a Chevy. Seen many with a lot of miles and no issues.

how many ford windstars do you see on the road? Not many anymore.

All I’m saying is that you can buy a used car that will probably outlast the mav

You sound a bit too negative toward the Maverick even though this is a first year model. No one knows for sure how it will hold up over time. Seriously, stop posting nonsense about the truck. Do you even own or have one yet to comment on the durability of the truck? Or just speculating?

It may be running, but remember the early 2000s tundras and sequoias that all literally rusted in half?

I think that's a fair point. I guess my contention is that anything decent in the used market is marked up as much if not more than new cars on the lot. So you're paying 20k for a Tacoma that should cost you 15k and it's 5-10 years old with very little information on how it's been taken care of. They'll run through a ton of abuse, which is great, unless you're the person buying one that's been run hard and ignored for quite a few years.
A lot of dealers buying used vehicles sight unseen, or based on an algorithm, putting on a little powder and lipstick, and sending 'em down the road right now. Price aside, these market conditions are gonna lead to a lot of worn out cars being sold at a premium and being broken down on the side of the road somewhere in a year or two, regardless of brand.

?? People can still buy a car if they don't believe the in the reliability? right? People can buy a car because it's a good cheap option(that may not be as reliable).

Brands have track records. They trend in different ways over time. You can look at the trends to make a general prediction.

you make great points. Not to mention, you will also be underwater in debt on a car that may not be worth it.

meet of course don’t buy cars as investments. The mav is probably still the lesser evil there.

What I found out from Ford customer service which I kinda already had an idea about was that ford shut off the ordering Nov 15th and jan 27th because they had enough orders to build every 2022 maverick they could build.

They also said every truck ordered as a 2022 would be built as a 2022 barring any issues with microchips. This leads me to believe that more complicated builds requiring more chips might get delayed until 2023.

Additionally the allocations system is not going to be followed where a dealer may get allocated 200 vehicles but if it has 400 firm customer orders, and then 200 people are told tough shit you chose wrongly. Ford is NOT going to do that. Ford plans to build all these as 2022s or as many as can be built based on parts availability, and ship to the dealers what the customers ordered allocations be damned.

If you ordered from Granger Ford in December and January your vehicle will likely probably be built July through September. You will likely get a Vin number if I had to guess April or may.

If Ford were to withhold orders to a dealership based on old allocation numbers would end up for Ford as a public relations nightmare. They told me they had issues with microchips for the hybrids at the beginning, and everything is getting back on track to get these built. It's just a question of being patient enough to wait for your vin #, and it to be scheduled to be built.

Presumedly some of the ROVPs from late December/early January were submitted well in advance of the deadline?

3 approved from those, or from the last minute mad rush?
From the last minute rush.

Looks like another 130 were approved late this last week. So they are getting to them now.
