Hopefully ford gets a better handle on the orders since they cut them off, but they still have to deal with the supply issues and logistics of delivery, etc that is constantly changing. If the truckers here start doing what they are doing in Canada then watch out.

Now here's the thing I keep saying. Ford shut it off in november and january, because they know how many they can build in a years time. So let's say ford knows they can build 150,000 mavericks per year. They hit that total number in january 27th.

At this point they can theoretically build all 150,000 vehicles providing they can get all the microchips etc. Sooo at this point I dont think allocations would matter if they are able to build all the vehicles for 2022 because they turned it off in january knowing if not that they would end up with more than they could build for 2022.

I mean, you have let's say 400 orders for Granger, and ford is capable of building all 150,000 vehicles. What are they going to say? No you cant get all 400 vehicles your "customers" ordered because your only allowed let's say 200 per year? Where do the other 200 go that this dealer ordered if ford can build em all but wont let the dealer have them? I mean if they can make all of the vehicles for 2022, then I would think they would be building all the customer orders regardless of where they are going allocations be damned.

Looks like this week was hybrid-heavy, as @fordvideoguy said it would be. Wonder if we'll see more EBs next week. Hey @Ford Motor Company mine has the least chips of all! Hook it up! :)

That's exactly what they can do, and will do if those microchips can go into cars that are more profitable.

Plus, Ford had no way of knowing how many people would order in the last 3 days after they announced the end of orders. Granger certainly had a flood of orders.

At some point Granger will let us know what their monthly allocation actually is. My guess is they have 2-3 years of orders if they have 351 outstanding.

Agreed.

Ford constantly adjusts allocations, and retail orders have priority. All the 22MY retail orders will be built, if they have capacity (presume they do since they cut off new orders when reaching capacity) and parts (this remains a wild card, but so far Mavericks are being built per plan, whereas other models have seen production slowdowns).

The last Granger orders may come in near the end of 22MY production, but you knew that going in.

Yes I knew that going in, and dont mind waiting. That's not what I have a problem with. It's the naysayers that are saying if a dealer gets only so many allocations and they have double the customer order vs the allocations they normally have that ford is gonna say well tough shit.

I dont believe they will do that. Money is money. If you turn people away because of the allocations that is bad P.R. and people always remember the bad and not the good. Remember this was an inexpensive vehicle to draw in first time new car buyers. This is a way for ford to try to make them lifelong customers.they dont want people jumping ship and buying a santa cruz and becoming a Hyundai lifer. They wont refuse the extra vehicles ordered at each dealership because of allotments. Not If they can build them all. If they can, they will.

The customer order system is likely based on when 90% of the vehicles sold were dealer inventory, and 10% were special orders where you pick exactly what you want like I did with my 2007 mustang GT. With the maverick, it turned it all upside down where nearly 100% are customer orders.

So ford is going to say "you chose wrongly".try again. I doubt that's gonna happen
It’s been happening so far with the maverick. Why would anything change?

Ford has said they want to go to a customer order based system. If that was really the case, take the orders first in, first out by date with no concern where they were ordered. Constraints not withstanding of course.

We as customers will likely get more of the same. If they want to change, don’t talk about it. Do it.

I dont think that means anything in the grand scheme of things

I think part of that had to do with issues at the beginning of production causing rescheduling of some vehicles. Those are now getting built. Now that a bunch of that is fixed, the issues they are having is chip allocation for different Lux packages along with copilot 360.

I have no doubt that most of these orders will get built, and some of the ones that won't get built will be the ones that require a lot of microprocessors for extra stuff like lux and copilot 360. That's where the next bottleneck is.
