Jealous! My build date keeps getting pushed back. Looking forward to seeing my twin on the roads.
Don't be...yet. My delivery didn't happen. No email from Ford. Salesman told me it's been pushed back to next week. I've stopped believing and begun just hoping. If I see it in February, I'll be satisfied.

A little compensation. I expected to pick up my truck the first week in January so I got quotes for my 2016 4Runner from CarMax and Carvana early that week. CarMax quoted $30,800 and Carvana was about the same. After I actually took possession of my Maverick on Saturday, I got updated quotes. Carvana had not changed much but CarMax‘s new offer was $32,600. So the month delay got me about $2,000. I feel better now about the wait.

When you guys bought your vehicles with tax, title, and registration, doesn’t that mean all that was included in the fees you paid?

I got home after picking up my license plate and saw the registration has an amount owed for property tax… does the dealer pay that since it should have been included in the fees paid at purchase, usually? Or is sales tax vs. property tax a different category, and the dealer usually does not pay the property tax part?

I can call my dealer in the morning of course just wondering if you all saw the same thing, or if you had $0 due on your registration document with the license plate.

Would like to know what your dealer says. I'm also in Wake County NC and "in theory" I'm supposed to take delivery this week.

Sales tax and property tax are different things. Property tax is based on the MSRP and your county of residence and no, the dealer does not pay it, you pay it. I've already paid mine but it seems like they give you something like 60 days to pay it. It can be paid online for I believe it's an additional $3 fee.

You will pay the property tax again next year when you renew the vehicle registration. At least the property tax goes down every year since it's based on the vehicle book value. I actually contested the book value one year and won....it lowered my tax by about a buck as I recall.

The TTL means Tax, Title and License, not every tax your jurisdiction will charge. Your property tax is specific to your County, District, Township location. The TTL only covers the stuff that allows you to drive the vehicle. You still have to get it inspected (if you live where that is required) and you know the state where you live will tax the hell out you.

I'm my county, I pay property tax if the vehicle in located in my garage and then if I move the vehicle to another county, town for a minimum stay of 3 months, then I have to pay both county property taxes. We also have to pay a Pavement Tax, which is a tax to legally drive the truck on the roads - Why have a vehicle if you can't drive it on the road?

Thanks. I had forgotten about the property tax payment. I also think(?) that it is calculated at a higher amount if you have a hybrid (the state figuring that you won't be contributing as much in gas taxes due to a hybrid's high MPG).

Thanks peeps, since I'm a sovereign citizen I won't have to pay the property t-- hah just kidding. I'll go ahead and pay online.

@garnermike my quick googling shows that NCDOT does charge an extra annual registration fee of $130 for BEV's (and plugin PHEV's? ... hmm I'm not sure about PHEV), but there is not yet an additional fee for regular hybrid HEV's.

Called Wake County and they referred me to NCDMV/DOT. DOT said that for hybrid vehicles, a flat amount ($140) is added to the valuation of the vehicle from which annual property taxes are based.

Hm I wonder if they need to clarify. The website shows "Electric vehicles" $140.25 but does not clarify what that means. FWIW, my registration shows my hybrid vehicle is a "G" type, meaning gas lol. That could possibly be that they don't have 2022 Maverick VINs matching up correctly to hybrid types in the DMV system.

An NCDOT brief from 2020 indicates that they were considering adding gas-hybrids to this fee requirement, but had not yet. The fee only makes sense because an BEV or PHEV vehicle is likely not contributing much to the NC gas tax, which goes towards infrastructure that most vehicles collectively make use of.

My hybrid maverick registration with G (Gasoline) type fuel instead of H or I:

I'm OK with that. When I close the deal on the Mav, I will be looking at my paperwork closely. My bride insists that she remembers paying more in property taxes on our 2018 Hyundai Ioniq hybrid (and I am not brave enough to ask her to find that paperwork!)

Just purchased another car last month and just got the property tax notice I had to pay a separate sales tax. Another small point on this I assume in the case of someone buying sub MSRP (Chapman -4% invoice) can ask for that sales price to be the price at which the tax is evaluated at, I think.

Just saw a tv ad from Leith on WRAL TV saying they never mark up the retail price regardless of market conditions.
