I’ve seen several people asking why, especially since it is small. Here is why, I could have hung it out the back, but this was in the bed with the tailgate closed.

I suggested to my hubby we get the sliding rear window. He replied, "did you see how tiny it is"? I realized it's too small to cool off my hot flashes. 😜 ❄ After seeing your pic, I now regret not getting it. It's scheduled to go into production in a few wks & I'm afraid to make changes & slow down production even more Great use of that extra space by just getting that useful little window.

You are not worried it will break?

I also got the window because my previous truck a 1998 Ford Ranger XLT SuperCab had it and I used it when I was hauling PVC pipe and various lumber (1x4's, 2x3's) that were 8-10 feet long and didn't want the lumber extending beyond the end of the truck.

I will put a small towel on the lower edge of the window for protection.

I also have the 110V/400W outlet in the cabin so if I want power in the bed I will run an extension cord through the window.

I have the inside inverter also but didn't think of what I would need to plug into bed. What are you planning?

IMO its safer to close the tailgate and have it hang up and back and just use some painters tape and a little red rag, voila.

I'm just thinking that if you don't strap it down and you get side-swiped, that board could rotate and its right at eye level, and if you do strap it down how durable is that little window to having weight pushing down on it.

I ordered the rear window for the same reason. I used to have a Ram 1500 and the rear pass through was definitely handy for 12' trim pieces. They're not rigid enough to hang from the tailgate more than a couple feet. I was able to put them on the front dash, through the window, then resting on the closed tailgate. A couple bungee straps and it stayed put great.

Mav with an even shorter bed needs every trick in the playbook to get the most utility out of it.

Ive has rear sliders on any previous tuck...dating back to 1982 Toyota mini truck. Never had any problems hauling anything thru the window....lumber, moudling, wooden closet poles, window coverings.

I think it's a hoot - every time I open and close the electric rear window I smile. It opens and shuts fast, there's something cartoon-like about it.

I ordered mine for the same reason. My current Mazda B-3000 (aka Ford Ranger) has one and it comes in handy at times.

Exactly, I'm not putting steel beams through there. This was a trim board that needed supported and would probably snap off the back. Other times it is that long piece of PVC for some sprinkler repair!
