If no Maverick, what is your back up plan?

Just going to keep driving my 2013 Tacoma until the Mav shows up. If it never does, no worries... the Tacoma has a good chance of being the last thing moving on this earth anyway. Aside from the cockroaches, that is.

I have a short-term lease on a Polestar 2 but that will run out in March. I still have a 2013 F150, 2002 Volvo S60, 2015 Kia Soul and 2009 Kia Sedona, so I have no vehicle shortage. I will be selling off the Sedona and S60 when my Maverick arrives in the distant future...

Ordered in July and sold my 2019 Ranger in August to Carmax, I'm stuck driving a 1999 ES300 that I bought for $800 during the begining of the pandemic. Luckily it hasn't had many issues.

I'll keep driving my 2000 Silverado that I bought a year ago as a winter beater. I already sold my 2014 Focus ST for more than I paid for it after the years of owning it.

I have three wildly different alternatives:

1- Ford F150. Place order and wait on that instead. I'm not willing to pay the $50k plus most in stock F150s are going for, but if one is cautious with option box checks and places an order with a reasonable dealer, it is possible to get a XLT in the low to middle $40s. That would still involve a wait, but probably less of a wait as F150 production seems to be a lot faster.

2- Honda Civic Si. It is one of the few cars out there available with a manual transmission (and perhaps only available with a manual, I'm not sure on whether the Si has another transmission option). My last manual car left my possession in 2018 and I really miss that driving experience. Since the manual is almost dead now and will be completely dead when all we can get are hybrids and electrics I would really like to have a new manual car now. Unfortunately the Civic Si has a lot less utility than any of my other choices. I drive a state vehicle to and from and for work, so the gas mileage advantage the Civic has doesn't really make that much of a difference to me.

3- Kia Sorento Hybrid. This would probably be the best choice for a family vehicle but it is also the least interesting. We have had great luck with Kia and I expect I will eventually own some kind of hybrid or electric Kia, but this is the lowest on my list to have as "my car."

All in all, I really just hope one of the two Maverick AWD orders I placed is filled reasonably soon before I need to have something (which is about the beginning of the summer).

already overnighted the new slave from FCP and popped it in, she's good to go again....for now....

true those NA e90s are more reliable except for the cooling system....and valve cover gaskets...and oil filter housing gasket....and worn out suspension bushings....and DISA valve...and the valve lifters...and the dreaded carbon buildup......on second thought I think I'll stick with the E39 looooool

Have a Day 2 Bronco reservation converted to order and an XL Mav just ordered through Granger. I'm optimistic about getting the Bronco sometime this year and if not, hopefully a Mav will come through and tide me over.

Currently driving a 2015 Chevy Cruze and about to hit 100K. Wanting to capitalize on the used car market right now as well. Its fully paid off so hoping to sell before things start falling apart.

Agree with the original poster in that the options are limited out there, at least in trying to pay a fair price. I've been looking around my area for lightly used Mavs and Bronco Sports that might be MSRP or a little over but no dice so far.

Never leased a vehicle but may look into it if anyone has any recommendations.

If I can’t have the most practical vehicle on the market for me (2022 Maverick XLT Hybrid), I’ll keep driving the most practical vehicle for me back in 1997 (Jeep Cherokee XJ). 25 years and running strong. I’d prefer the $150/mo. gas savings, though. The Maverick hybrid could not suit my needs any better.

So, as it sits my order is confirmed but that is all - I am already thinking it is going to be close to six months so I am hopeful. I have confidence in the dealer where my order went through but, I have also started looking around for other vehicles - it is a virtual desert out there almost to the point of frustration. I got lucky this past summer when I walked onto a Subaru lot and drove off in a new Crosstrek which is now the woman's car. I made a hasty decision and sold my 2020 Civic to buy a Mav which leaves me my venerabe '06 F-150 until I can get the Maverick. I started looking at other choices and they are not available either - Toyota Tacoma TRD, Rav4 TRD, Nissan Frontier. Everything is pre-sold if I find one. Just curious what your back up plan is if you can't get a Maverick right now?

I'll keep my '11 Volvo C30 as my daily (as long as I could afford to) but would probably put a lot more miles on my '06 Tundra. Prefer not to as I plan for the Tundra to be my one car in retirement in ~6 years and keeping the miles off is a big part of that (currently 72k miles).
