Yes, they are all dumb. But if you have the money for one of those vehicles to begin with, I suppose that you can afford to pay the premium. Nobody buying a 992 is hurting for money.

However I'd argue that paying over MSRP for the pick-up equivalent of a Civic or Camry is very irresponsible considering who is likely buying one.
Around my area, trucks rule the roads. Fishing, shrimping, hunting, etc. Many people are low income but live life on a daily basis and simply can't afford the $30,000 minimum price tag on new trucks. Buying used trucks (when the prices were realistic) was a gamble on reliability and without ANY warranty, a shot in the dark. Getting a new Maverick at $20,000 has people around here sitting up and taking notice. If one is returned and marked up $2,000 over MSRP, it is still a GREAT deal and will sell by day's end. THEY MOVE! With that being said, I honestly don't know of any Mavericks or dealers that have done that. We simply sit around a huge table drinking coffee and run to the bathroom a lot while gossiping. 🤣

Dealers are flipping their service cars, loaners they give during repairs. I've had a few come up too. I had one dealer try to sell me their service car new off the truck lol but they wanted over MSRP and I walked.
I took my wife's year old Kia Soul into the dealer for service at the end of December. It only has 6k miles on it because we really don't drive it that much. They tried to get me to trade it in or sell it to them. I didn't bite but it is hard to walk away from making money on a used car.

We paid $22000 (exactly) for it last December. I checked Carvana yesterday and got an offer of $23,500. We are not selling, she loves the car, but crazy times for sure.

Hello All!

I want a Hybrid, and couldn't even get my order in. That being said, in the last 10 hours I've had 3 dealers call and tell me they have new trade in Mavericks. 2000 miles or less (none are hybrids). Was curious why there would be such a "surge" for lack of a better word in trade-ins? Your thoughts would be great!
Way that I see it, once my hybrid gets here, if I can get 30k for it, I will turn around and go get a 4wd Canyon/Colorado, Frontier, Ranger or Taco 🤣

Mavericks are being traded because they are no good.
If you spend enough time on this site you will learn the TRUTH!

NUMEROUS massive problems documented...

Tailgates not level
Cracked windshields with only 1 or 2 rock impacts
Hoods fluttering when 6 inch tall plastic wings attached
Back up cameras don't work right when tailgate lowered
AM Radio reception not as good as 2005 Camry
Cactus Grey looks blue sometimes

There are more.

What am I forgetting guys?

Flipping them for a profit makes sense. I'd just like to order one! I was told I had to wait until the summer of 2023!
Call different dealers and leave your contact info for any that are turned down by customers. That’s how I nabbed my Lariat that’s supposed to be here any day!

Just sold my 2020 soul 6 speed to car max for $3200 profit after owning almost 3 years had under 27k miles on it. I loved that car w/ 6 speed, however have 13 GT, but soul was more comfortable to drive & work in & fun to drive. No more manuals for 2022 model. Got cyber orange cig on order.

Vroom offered me $2K over my MSRP for our used maverick with 502 miles lol. Doesn’t make sense. Well, I guess it does but I love the truck too much and with taxes I still would lose.

I have to admit that the number of issues have made me think twice about ordering one. I expected a lot of issues on the first go around. I had that experience when I purchased my 2005 Escape Hybrid. The problems weren't mechanical, it was all software... Ford emailed a patch to the dealer, and problem was fixed! Never had a mechanical problem or hybrid issue.. 278,680 miles with the original HV battery going strong... never lost a drop of oil... car was totaled in an accident, otherwise I'd still be driving it. Maybe having to wait for a 2023 is a blessing?

That is an amazing number of miles! My friend and I both had 2013 Ford C Max hybrids. I sold mine with 87,000 miles on it and bought a Hyundai EV. My friend just sold hers with 124,000 miles because the transmission had to be replaced.

I've also been told by sales rep that 5k over msrp is common and some dealerships getting 10k over... I feel fortunate that the dealership I went through honored the msrp on my order and once my XLT arrived I was in and out with my vehicle in about 2 hrs... I've heard some real horror stories about other people's experiences...
