He seems to be unaware of the Ford Skunkworks BEV due to be announced at the 12 January Detroit Auto Show and on sale June 2027. He also seems unaware that CAFE targets have been relaxed. He doesn't know the difference in margin between Maverick and F150.
Total waste of time to read this trash. The Maverick is not critical to Ford's future, or its present. It's a low-margin player at the low margin end of the market. Even though a next gen Maverick is coming, it's only coming so that Ford can take even more cost out of the product. Ford could continue selling the current Maverick for a decade. And they've milked platforms that way in the past. You make the most profit in the middle to late in a platform's lifecycle.

Spot on. Ford would like every Maverick owner to trade up to a Ranger or F-150 with a higher profit margin.The Maverick is important for Ford in that it gets people into the brand at a price point they otherwise would have gone to Honda, Toyota, or another manufacturer with a lower cost vehicle.
Now Ford has captured their sales and if they do a good job (lol) will be poised to graduate them to more expensive trucks and SUVs. Farley has said this before.
While I love my Maverick it hasn’t earned any brand loyalty from me. I own it because no other efficient AWD hybrid truck that can tow 4K lbs and 1300lb payload exists currently.
If other truck offerings get close to Maverick efficiency while offering increased capabilities I’ll be gone.

Next gen Maverick is very important to Ford. I see a hybrid Lobo (Lincoln Nautilus drivetrain) and King Ranch in the future + more options to pick from
