Advice please:
I have about 45,000 miles on the original tires (Conti ProContact 225/65 r 17)on my 2023 XLT hybrid. Im starting to shop for new tires.
I have a set of steelies with snow tires already.
Im using the trucklet to commute about 45 miles each direction of which 40 miles is 65 mph highway.

All I care about is getting the best gas mileage.

What tires should I look at?

Jeez. They cast an awfully wide net with what they consider LRR, didn't they? If THAT many models qualify, maybe it's time to increase the standards.

Side note: Michelin makes TWELVE variations of the Primacy now? That seems needlessly confusing and granular.
Primacy is Michelin's "make variations to OEM WHATEVER THEY WANT SPECS" line. Then an aftermarket "common" variation.

There appears to be nothing for a 17 inch rim narrower than 225/65R17. There is a 205/85 r 16. but you will need new rims
Most (if any)16 inch wheels will not fit over the Mavericks large disc brakes.

People who drive like jerks tend to slag the factory tires, so ignore the morons. All of the factory tires will get 60k miles if you drive properly. 100k tires cost mileage with thicker tread. With the excepton of the Tremor, the factory tires are all very good for mileage. Aftermarket with aggressive tread, wider footprint and deeper tread all suck more fuel. I'm partial to Michelins with a quieter and softer ride, but the Contis are also pretty good. The Goodyears are also maybe good, but I can't say since I have not had them.

I have been well pleased with my Continental True Contact Tour54 eco. Bought oem size 225/60R18. I run them at 38-38.5 cold psi. They have high wet and light snow ratings with heat activated polymers. Rated 70k miles, but I live in Texas with hard rock chip sealed roads so expect 10-15% less than that. Have not noticed any less mpg maybe a little better, don't keep actual.

"People who drive like jerks tend to slag the factory tires, so ignore the morons." Really? WTH? I purchased the truck with 29,000 miles - the factory tires are wore out. Like I said, they are junk - it's not the 1st time I heard that. Thanks for being so welcoming!

So the previous owner drove it very aggressively. You might want to tone it down and get your transmission fluid changed to try to recover from its very hard previous life. You're welcome.

I guess you're the board's know-it-all. Good to know.

my hybrid XL came with 60,000 mile continental pro contact tires. I will not get near 60,000 Miles and I am a very light foot driver.

Now that was one of the top stupid statements I have heard in a while.

So I got about 20K out of my factory Mav 2023 Hybrid tires. BUT past vehicles I have gotten close to the tires rated mileage rating. BUT suddenly my first hybrid I drive like a nut. No sorry i drive real slowly to eek out the best MPG I can get. Slowly brake so its ALL regen braking. Try to drive away on full eletric . Yet my tires lasted like crap. Yet my snow tires are hardly worn after 3 winters. Man better educate yourself better before statements like that

I'm sure they'll hurt fuel economy but I want to trade the Contis (when they wear out) for a set of BF Goodrich Trail-Terrains. Hopefully they'll hurt fuel economy less than All Terrains and they are severe snow service rated. Also I won't sweat when I need to leave the pavement.

I also have a 23' Hybrid and am starting to shop for replacements - I'm currently at 32,000, and know my tires won't make it through another Michigan winter, so am hoping to but around Aug-Sept. I drive 50 miles one way to work, so 100 per day and mostly freeway. I want the MPG, but also something that is going to last a bit longer. I have been leaning towards the Michelin CrossClimate2 which from other threads, sound like the MPG isn't affected. Thoughts?

I personally think the Factory installed Continental 225/65R17s were garbage. LOL
It's true the OEM CPC TX is a thin, light tire. There are pros and cons. They are easy on the suspension and axles and gets good mpg. You can get take-off's very cheap. It's said that the retail version has more tread and it's thrifty as well. Of course the con is they don't hold up to spirited driving.

For the OP (and myself), a low mileage economy tire is a good fit because he has dedicated snow tires for winter. For your location in MI, yes get the CC2's and run them 12 months. I've driven them in Colorado on a CR-V off Turo, was glad to have them in the snow. I think they have a unique tread and driving feel but extra rolling resistance. Not a big mpg loss but a bit tougher on the components with the extra weight.

I can't say if they're the "best".But they were specified by Ford as the tire for the Maverick with the black appearance package and for the 2026 lariat . I have almost hal

I must respectfully disagree with you concerning the Continentals. They simply don't last. Driven gently they will last longer than if they will if someone drives aggressively. But they just still don't last that long compared to almost any other aftermarket tire. Almost every person needs a new set by 40, 000 or so. I witnessed it at my job. Also, the treadwear number is relatively low. The tread depth is relatively low even when new. The Continentals have a tread where number of 400 and something. My Goodyear territory HT tires have a Treadwell number of 680. I have 42,000 miles on them. I measured the tread depth today I still have over 7/32. The Continentals that come on most Mavericks only have about 9/32 of tread when brand new. I think my Goodyear tires came with either 10/32 or 11/32 worth of tread. There may be some people who get 60,000 MI from the Continentals. But they are few and far between. It seems as those who drive aggressively may need to replace theirs at about 30,000. Those who drive prudently and normally may get a bit above 40 to 42,000. But those tires simply do not have good tread life compared to many others

When I first got my 2025XL and noticed the tire thread depth, I thought: Ridiculous!...
Then I saw the Ford oil filter! 🤣
