Advice please:

I have about 45,000 miles on the original tires (Conti ProContact 225/65 r 17)on my 2023 XLT hybrid. Im starting to shop for new tires.

I have a set of steelies with snow tires already.

Im using the trucklet to commute about 45 miles each direction of which 40 miles is 65 mph highway.

All I care about is getting the best gas mileage.

What tires should I look at?

I put on Hankook Kinergy.

They are as good or 1 MPG better than the stock ones and reasonably priced.

They have a 11/32 version and an 8/32 version. The 8/32 is lighter, lower cost, and gives exceptional MPG. The 11/32 costs a little more, weighs a little more, but lasts a little longer.

I got the 8/32. Wears about the same as stock. My MPG has never been better.

Taking into consideration what I highlighted above from your original post.
Basically you're using your Maverick as a daily roadrunner.
For better mileage.
You may want to try a slightly narrower width Hankook Kinergy tire.

Jeez. They cast an awfully wide net with what they consider LRR, didn't they? If THAT many models qualify, maybe it's time to increase the standards.

Side note: Michelin makes TWELVE variations of the Primacy now? That seems needlessly confusing and granular.
How many versions of the Primacy exist just for OEM requirements?

I've noticed that (at least for a while) GM was putting Michelin tires on every Buick and GMC that didn't actually have a bed on it.

I've noticed that Continental is pushing the ProContact TX HEAVY for OEMs. Its OK for your Escape or CUV but for anything less it just says to me "we want something cheap, black, and round. And as long as the first criteria is met the other two aren't as important."

I’m starting to look into the Hankook Kinergy. Unfortunately- there are a bunch of different versions of that tire.

Any specific version/model that comes in something to fit my 225/65 r17 (or slightly narrower) needs?

There appears to be nothing for a 17 inch rim narrower than 225/65R17. There is a 205/85 r 16. but you will need new rims

I just bought Continental Tour 54 tires for my 23 Hybrid . Supposed low rolling resistant tech Rated 80K miles too.

My speedometer was off 2 miles an hour. Said 60 but really 58. drove me crazy Fixed in forscan

Ok… I’m gonna hijack this thread, because it’s really close to my question.
I’ve ALSO got a ‘23 Hybrid XLT, I’m at 55K, and fuel efficiency is also important to me - but I’m also an “essential” worker, so I get to drag myself to work in the occasional PA/MD snowstorm.

What’s a good option that will get me around safely and not hurt my fuel economy?

I imagine you've probably purchased new tires by now. But if you haven't. Consider the Goodyear Wrangler Territory HT. They came on my 2025 Hybrid with the Black Appearance Package. I have 42,000 miles on my truck and I still have over half the tread left.

I also have a 23' Hybrid and am starting to shop for replacements - I'm currently at 32,000, and know my tires won't make it through another Michigan winter, so am hoping to but around Aug-Sept. I drive 50 miles one way to work, so 100 per day and mostly freeway. I want the MPG, but also something that is going to last a bit longer. I have been leaning towards the Michelin CrossClimate2 which from other threads, sound like the MPG isn't affected. Thoughts?

I personally think the Factory installed Continental 225/65R17s were garbage. LOL

I agree that the Continentals leave a lot to be desired. My factory equipment Goodyear Wrangler Territory HT tires had almost as much tread at 30,000 miles as the Continentals that are brand new from the factory. Even at 42,000 miles my Goodyear tires have significantly more tread than a customer's Continentals with 20,000 miles. Since the Goodyear tires that come on my 2025 with the black appearance package are doing so well, I recommend them to anyone who wants a long life tire but doesn't want to pay a premium price
