Well, I am on a work trip and the wife just called that Springfield mo just got baseball size hail. She went to the airport to check on my truck and it doesn’t look good. I am not an insurance adjuster but thinking it might be totaled. If it is, I will be posting up my custom black rhinos for trade before it goes to insurance. Sad day but everyone is safe and vehicles can be replaced.

Yeah I had it happen to a 2006 Altima in 2010 and my car looked like a golf ball with all the dimples.

It was insane what PDR did to make it look practically new again.

Too bad a drunk driver killed it (and almost my now wife and I) a few months after repair
Glad you all were ok!

Yikes! So sorry to see this especially having put in much time and effort in customizing your ride and having to do it all over again. Hope you get your new Maverick exactly the way you want soon.

Yep. It’s not totaled. PDR will get everything but the hood.

I’m not a betting man but I’d bet a hefty sum you aren’t getting it totaled.
Last year I got hit by something in the drivers-side passenger door, found a local PDR magician that made it disappear.

My man that is most definitely not totaled.

New windshield and some PDR and you’re rocking and rolling.

EDIT: Maybe a new hood with that aluminum paint peel but bottom line it’s far from totaled even if you want it to be.
If he reports it to insurance he's screwed. They'll want panel repl;acement and that gets expensive fast.

If I were OP I'd just get the glass replaced. Maybe do PDR on the body panels. The truck is beaten, but it still runs and drives fine and safety is not compromised outside the glass.

Somehow I think the op is going to report it to insurance. He bought a new 2025 to have and drive a new Maverick, not drive a beat up pos. Especially if he's still making payments on it.

For years, and maybe still going on today, Johnson County KS (especially Overland Park, Olathe, Shawnee Mission) new auto dealers have been dealing with hail damage on their new car lots. It so bad that they actually have mobile dent removal services that basically travel from dealer to dealer just removing dents from new vehicles every year.

Sometimes they just mark down new cars based on the damage and sell as is, or, repair them and still discount it some due to being a damaged unit. It would take ALOT of damage to total one out, and trying to get the INS to replace..... good luck.

OP, sorry to see this happen to your truck. New hood, new glass, then PDR on the roof and you should be good to go.

If it's me, I'm absolutely reporting this to insurance. It's an Act of God, so I wouldn't see this as being a rate-increasing incident.

April 2020. height of pandemic, major hail at our home. The hail was nickel to quarter size and piled up in the yard an inch deep in places. My late wife had a 2017 Jeep Patriot. New windshield, new rear window, new trim pieces for roof and pillars, roof, hood, 4 doors, A pillar, C pillar all had dents as large as a quarter. Insurance paid to repair it and rent us a car for 2 weeks due to the backlog for PDR. Just the PDR was over 10k. My F150 estimate was $6900 since the bed cover protected that area and took the brunt of the dents. I took the cash on it being it was white and no glass damage, mostly roof dents.

I had a 2004 Ranger get pummeled with hail when it was only a year old. Never heard of PDR until then and was a skeptic. I thought for sure the paint would crack or rust would form underneath the paint later. I traded my Ranger for a Colorado in 2017 and you still would have never known that the truck was hail damaged. The truck's rocker panels were starting to rust from winter salt, but the repaired panels looked like new yet.

I have an emergency hail blanket in my garage to be thrown over the horizontal pieces, but of course that does me no good if I'm not at home (and luckily we only get tiny hail when it does hail).

One word sums it up....awful !
Go figure the truck was at the airport parking lot by itself unprotected.
