Well, after I took the quote from the adjuster to my local body shop they laughed. Just eyeballing it, he said it was totaled. The adjusters quote had 45 hours of labor and at a rate of 69.00 an hour. Body shop said they are off $5,000 for labor alone. When they looked at how bad the roof was especially on the seams, he said they could potentially fix it but it wouldn’t be worth it. They are sending a new quote back to the insurance and it will be totaled. Luckily, I found the same truck in Arkansas and it is getting delivered tomorrow. I guess the new lights will go on it.
Seems like it worked out for you, even if it was a pain to deal with. Now you’ve got some time to strip as much as you can off the other one too.

Got the truck home today and was able to look over it more. Still waiting on the adjuster but every panel has damage minus the tail gate and front bumper. Also almost every panel has paint flaking as well. I was surprised how bad the roof was. Around the 3rd brake light is a really big dent and the whole roof is peeling.

When I was shopping for my Mav I almost bought a "new" Lariat that had about 60 miles on it. It had been at a dealership where several vehicles took hail damage and the dealer I was working w/ on it had gotten three or four of them. It was being sold as NEW with a clear title rather than as a SALVAGE or REBUILT title so it hadn't been totaled. I will say it looked like smaller hail that what yours appears to have been attacked by, but there was lots of damage. Last time I saw it they had dome a very nice job repairing all but the roof and it looked really nice. They cheaped out, though and decided not to finish the roof and sell it as-is so I walked away. It wouldn't surprise me if they total it.

I know insurance companies can't force you to use their shops.
The insurance company adjuster is saying your Maverick is not totaled. Your independent body shop is saying it's totaled.
I wonder what is said in the offices of the insurance company how that discrepancy is viewed and how it affects rates going forward.

And I understand all the BS about, it's an act of God and it wasn't anyone's fault. Rates shouldn't go up 😂

Good deal! Sucks to go through it. After seeing that PDR wasn't really a fix all, and the roof would have to be skinned if not replaced.... you're better off not having a newish Maverick with body filler all over it. Plus the incident depreciation alone would have killed your future trade/Sell.
It is bitter sweet but glad it is totaled for the value alone. A lot of memories this past year in it…sons first big deer he shot, the maverick carried to the processor. A lot of camping fishing etc and the plan was it would be his truck in 3 years when he starts driving but at least we have a replacement and something new to make memories in.

amen to that…getting the black rhinos, skid plate and rock blockz flaps off tomorrow. The old truck was named sandy…we decided as a family the new truck will be called dimples.

Do you know for sure that it will be considered totaled by your insurance company? Seems just a little premature to have the new one brought in if not.

Well, if it isn’t then they will pay for it to get fixed by my body shop and he said today it will be over $30,000 to fix. I need a vehicle and got the new truck for $7,000 off so if I need to sell it I can at least break even.
