I have a 2023 xl hybrid.... I'm on my 4th battery and second AGM.... I have read how some members desulfate their batteries and get 6 or 8 years of service from them.... I do have a noco 1 amp with the desulfing feature.... my question to the forum members is..... How often do you desulfate your batteries to get that longevity out of your batteries and can I do it with hybrid...ty

The Nocos desulfate automatically when they detect the battery needs it. If you’re charging regularly, you’re likely covered.

That said, no one here has gotten six years out of a battery in a Maverick hybrid yet, and that model seems to often have its own set of battery issues that have nothing to do with battery sulfation.

There must be something wrong with your settings. Take your truck to your dealership, and have them go over your problem (whatever it is) my hybrid 2022 maverick is into it's 4th year of ownership, and I still have the original flood battery in it. Yes, it in sleep mode most of the time, but I never had to jump start it, or put a trickle charger on it. There's something that needs attention on your truck.

The best way to keep an AGM battery in good shape is to prevent sulfation in the first place.
Keeping any lead acid battery, including an AGM at a high SOC largely prevents the sulfation opportunity.
I keep my AGM on a Noco and I typically get a decade out of my batteries.

Desulfation can help increase charge capability in a sulfated battery, but repeated desulfation also typically reduces the battery lifespan, and heat and overcharging will also cause a lifetime reduction.

My 23 Hybrid is now also on its 4th battery. The last one is now an AGM one. The voltage is almost always showing a 60% charge, so I'm charging it up every 2 weeks. Maybe it will last long enough for Ford to finally release a way overdue charging software fix eventually.

I don't understand why hybrids are having major issues with their 12V battery life. Why would a hybrid kill the batteries compared to their Ecoboost designs? The hybrid function has a separated battery so what is causing the hybrid batteries to die compared to the Ecoboosts? When I buy replacement batteries I always check the dimensions of the holder and determine the largest size I can fit into the compartment safely, regardless of what was originally in it.
I don't know what Ford battery replacement warranty is like but if it is out of my pocket I recommend the Walmart Everstart Platinum AGM 4 year warranty. Free replacement for four years and no proration but the new one is only covered for 90 days or original warrany period. Still a good deal for the prices when on sale.

I put my 2024 AGM equipped Mav on my Noco 1 amper once or twice a month.

The key is to hook it up when it can stay hooked up as long as possible.
mine gets 24-36 hours on the Noco 1 about once a month. It reaches peak charge after about 8 hours.
I sometimes do this twice a month if it can’t sit on the Noco for 24 hrs.
De sulfating is a slow process

Why?
The hybrid has a DCDC Convertor, instead of an alternator.
So they are able to treat it like a charger - supply the exact volts and amps for what you want.
Great in theory - problematic in practice, when you have other interests with input, say gas mileage group.

A subset seems to have extra draws occurring.
A subset seems to have perhaps bad sensors that aren't accurate with what is needed, or sent.
All seem to have a desire to be at low battery levels.
All have the ability to charge higher, so perhaps a logic problem too.

Sums it up very well!

Cheers.

The 12v battery is covered under the 3/36 bumper-to-bumper warranty, but it needs to be heavily sulfated before Ford agrees it is a warranty item. Unfortunately the failing battery is a symptom and not the cause, and the broken charging software is the cause. Expect a new 12v battery every year...
The drive battery is covered under the 8/160 hybrid components warranty, but it needs to be below 70% capacity. That's pretty unlikely until about 15 years in.

Optimate (correction, Tecmate) makes high quality chargers with desulfate functionality, just as an FYI if you are interested. They aren’t super cheap, but it’s one of those YGWYPF instances.

Try getting the ACCM updated. And at the same time have them FULLY charge the battery. If that's done, there's a good chance it will solve your problems, and you'll be able to simply drive and forget it.

The problem is excessive parasitic drain. If the ACCM is updated, it has corrected the issue on many Mavericks. While there, it won't hurt to have them make sure ALL modules are at the latest software level. After performing the ACCM update, on 4 vehicles, the battery issue was fixed on THREE of them. I suggest giving that a try.

If your vehicle is in deep sleep, you ARE having the problem. This is a problem that Ford promised to fix in 2025. Now they are "claiming" to have another possible "fix" by the end of Q2 of 2026. By saying you've had the vehicle since 2022, but have never had a problem, yet you then state it is always in deep sleep is contrary to reality.
