Interesting. That would make some sense, gives some adjustment if you went with another battery chemistry.
Not necessarily related but I was reading manual on a maintainer/charger which had a repair mode. During repair it recommended removal of battery from vehicle due to 16v current which could possibly damage some vehicles equipment.

I saw that charging limit can be changed in Forscan but I'd be worried about overcharging and a potential "catastrophic battery failure" if the limit is set too high...

It appears that limit is for the constant current constant voltage (CCCV) fast charging rate, then it drops to topper charge rate 1-2A. 80% is standard for FLA to prevent overheat and loss of O2 and water.
AGM is even worse for overcharging.
Probably the saving grace for those bumping up to 95% is it appears the sensors that decide what is 80% (or 95%) are off, so in either case not really getting that high, bad when it's 80%, not a problem currently at 95%.

Isn't it interesting that the documentation on modern vehicles is so egregious that we actually have conversations like this, and simple facts on the underlying design never come to light? Ex: I'm pretty sure there must be some way to manually start and idle the hybrid's engine for testing, but this is somehow a closely guarded secret.
I have information on that procedure!! Bill P

I know the secret information also!! James R
Yeah, I finally figured it out. The service writer at my dealer said there was no way to do it, too. Mashing the accelerator while in Park will be good enough for a leak check after an oil change, but I would still like to know if you can actually put it in a diagnostic mode where it will actually idle with no load and the throttle responds to the accelerator pedal.

Here’s the answer on starting Hybrid-

Thank you, Bill. There are some ambiguities there, like leaving the engine off but holding it at the rev limiter (4K RPM, no tachometer) for 10 seconds. Time will tell if I can make it work. Thanks very much for the info.

Wow thanks.
That's convoluted enough to not accidentally happen.
The page break appears to have missed a line.

I'm betting a tech would rather just hook up a computer and tell it to do the modes, compared to those steps.
I think for oil change leak confirming, the normal engine idle by Go pedal press runs long enough.
But I guess this will be needed when time for coolant.

You for sure need to create a new titled thread for this nice info.
Let's see, something findable from a search - "This is great info"
