My girlfriend loves her 2013 Escape with 262,000+ miles and counting on it. She's looking at new Mazda CX5s as a potential next vehicle. Tricky part is she prefers cloth seats but that has been tough to hunt down. Although they do exist...somewhere lol
My wife loves leather seats. The Avalanche we had did not have leather, but she had dealer to put in leather. When sales gal pulled the Titanium it had leather. She loved that, and we drove home with it. I am still trying to figure out why. .she loves leather.

The Louisville plant is being converted to the new EV platform, no longer making the C2 platform, so the Maverick will not be being made there. My guess would be if Ford assembled the Maverick there, with the cost UAW labor, it would no longer be inexpensive.
You are exactly correct. I live just 20 miles south of the Louisville Assembly plant (LAP). My Grandson is an Industrial Engineer at the Big Ford Truck plant, also in Louisville. The retooling at LAP is NOT for Maverick production. Strong rumor is the small Ford EV truck. I can't confirm that, but Ford spent several years building a HUGH battery manufacturing facility in nearby Glendale, KY for EV's. The puzzle pieces align.

"Ford on Monday announced it took a massive $19.5 billion hit tied to its electric vehicle production and said it will scrap the electric F-150 truck.

Ford Motors poured billions of dollars into producing electric vehicles during the war on gas-powered vehicles.

The automaker previously reported it lost billions of dollars on their electric vehicles.

The electric vehicles have proven to be a money pit for Ford.

Move the production line being removed from Louisville to Cuautitlán Assembly since it already builds a version of C2.....

Really sad honestly
Very upset too, I don't know why the current Ford CEO is to force us to chose between the Bronco Sport and the Ford Explorer, one a SUV that misses a lot of features the Escape had and the much bigger/much more expensive Explorer.

The Edge isn't even an option now that Ford killed that too...

They still seem to be making them for Europe as the Kuga out of Valencia and Cologne... also Taiwan and under the Escape nameplate in China, so they could probably import some in future if the Bronco Sport sales don't increase.

I dunno why people are saying the styling is tired when Audi went and copypasted for the 3rd gen Q5.

Kinda hard to believe that the Escape had a run almost as long as the original Ranger.

I'm still mystified that Ford did not re-tool this factory to assemble the Maverick and Bronco Sport, and try to get some concessions from the current administration to assemble cheaper sub compact cars outside the US (like a Puma in Mexico) without tariffs if a certain % of higher value vehicles and components were made in USA.

Escape does not dictate the future of the Maverick. This platform started as the Focus platform anyway.

The 2028 P778 Maverick Platform should be fully developed by now, and almost ready for 2027 introduction.

Nope, it is going to be retooled for the new Mid Sized EV pickups, and other EV models shortly after.

I hope those models are successful, but it's still a pretty big gamble.

Granted, I know zero about vehicle manufacturing. It's just curious that Ford didn't re-tool a factory already producing a C2 platform vehicle to produce 2 popular vehicles in America, and build a brand new factory in the image of a BYD factory if that's the end goal for EV cost reduction.

Well the Escape is almost redundant with the Bronco Sport in the lineup. And the Bronco Sport is being redesigned for next year, and it will probably bridge the gap from Escape better. Ford Chose the Bronco Sport to keep over the Escape. Probably because it's a legacy model.

No way Ford is going to discontinue the Maverick, as it's a big (and growing) seller for Ford.
counterpoint: the full size, rear drive GM cars were selling well when they got axed after the 1996 model year. While profitable, they weren't as profitable as half ton trucks (well, except the Cadillac Fleetwood, I suppose), and they used the same transmission (4L80e)--of which GM could only build a limited number.

Every Impala/Caprice or Roadmaster sold meant one less pickup at a higher profit, and I suppose they didn't sell enough caddy to keep it alone without the stablemates (the only real difference by 1996 other than trim & equipment was the back seat and doors were 4" longer on the Caddy, the last US built vehicles catering to the owner being driven).

In the case of the Maverick, it appears (somewhat muddy I'd add) that their HF55 transmission is primarily (exclusively?) used in its manufacturer, so unlike the '96 models cars stealing limited transmissions in your example, building at least the eCVT Mavericks won't impact production of the F series trucks.
