The only reason I am holding out on buying Maverick is the small chance for a 2023 Ford Maverick hybrid with AWD. Does anyone have any inside information on if this is going to happen?

I conducted a thread search for MY23 and AWD hybrid and came up with multiple threads with lots of replies, opinions and speculation.

opinions and speculation is all that we'll see. No way they'll make that change just 1 year into the vehicle lifespan. More likely to see it at a refresh, or if a full/partial full electric hybrid is made as an option.

I agree that it would typically be unlikely, but not out of the realm of possibility. They may have held off on the AWD hybrid due to projected constraints. The Escape has and AWD hybrid, so I'm sure that it is reasonably possible to add the option.
With that being said, if it was held back due to constraints, they likely have not resolved those issues yet and we probably won't see it for MY23.

If for no other reason, I think it is unlikely as it appears we will see a bunch of roll over orders on '22. Probably in the best interest of Ford to make minimal changes from 22 to 23, ESPICALLY when they are spending under 4 days on lot. I am sure it will eventually come though.

I doubt it will show up as soon as my23 but you can be sure Ford is testing it. That being said, I am quite happy with my FWD purchase after doing some research.

Yeah, I'm originally in camp AWD hybrid but now I am wondering if FWD is good enough. Certainly better gas mileage.

I am thinking a plug in hybrid is more likely to come before an AWD hybrid. We already have plug in hybrid Escapes.

I don't think you will see any major changes until the mid cycle refresh probably for the 2025 model year.

Go bold Ford and do a rally inspired Maverick Raptor and give it a bigger transmission with EV assist hybrid 2.3 with 375 hp. Hybrid Maverick Raptor/Rallye Sport. If it can go fast offroad and get 30-35mpg and put down 13 seconds in the 1/4 on 255/70r17s it would sell out starting a $45k.

Personally, I want to see a full EV Maverick like the Mach E.
That requires a new platform. You'd be using up 100% of the payload to get that weight into the Maverick, or Escape.

Maybe 2028 or something after the lightning has a few years on the market.
