I am two months into owning and daily driving a 2025 Hybrid AWD. All of the reviews, window sticker, and published data indicated that I would be getting 37 mpg combined city/highway. Well, that is my daily routine - about 50% city and 50%highway based on total miles driven. The city may not be bumper to bumper like New York traffic, but there are plenty of stop signs and lights with average speeds around 35 mph.

I am only seeing 32 mpg on my short and long term trip computers readings.

I do not use the Economy mode because the vehicle is pretty slow already. And I am not pounding the pedal constantly to race it around. Pretty normal stuff and not loading the bed or towing (yet).

I have about 1,200 miles on it so far. Thought it might get better over time, but has not. Also, I notice that the 2.5 liter gas engine is on far more than I would have expected. Stays off on very slow starts up to about 10 mph, then the ICE kicks in.

What is going on here? Am I doing something wrong? Any suggestions? Can Ford make any changes to improves this?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Neil
Give the engine time to break in. I have a 2024 XLT EcoBoost. I too was unhappy with the initial MPG. At 3,500 miles I changed the break-in oil (Ford say's to wait till 5,000, but I was taking it on a long road trip and wanted fresh oil in it) and my MPG shot up IMMEDIATELY.

No. It's my understanding that common compressed air expands and contracts much greater than purified nitrogen gas between -40°F and 140°F and is not contaminated with water. Pressure remains very stable with nitrogen gas filled tires.
Nitrogen may be better, but absolutely not "immune" to pressure variations based on temperature. Anyone with nitrogen-inflated tires that does even casual observations of their tire pressures can see the fluctuations, myself included.

In any case, common compressed air is nearly 80% nitrogen by nature. I prefer to use N2 because it's free at Costco, but it is by no means immune to temperature swings.

32mpg is terrible? *laughs in ecoboost with large tires* I'm getting 21-23mpg. It's okay to get decent fuel economy...on a unibody truck.

Most of us old people (it appears that over 80% of Mav drivers are senior citizens by a recent poll here) expect and get EPA MPG, and often exceed it.
So, I would also be concerned if I was getting significantly lower than EPA MPG. Unless I added some giant Tonka Truck looking tires, or floored it at every stop sign.

Or live in a very cold climate or live in a very hot climate. There is a cost to living there; and people just have to accept it. Save your money elsewhere like rent is probably cheaper in those areas.

I am in a very temperate zone.
I rarely use Air Conditioning.
I rarely use Heating.
I rarely am worse than EPA ratings.

YES....it's terrible...it's a Hybrid. As the rest of us Hybrids get 42-45........Therefore.....the reason for his post. If it was an Eco....he probably would not have asked......:crazy::crazy:

It’s also dependent on so many factors. Could be altitude, temperature, fuel grade, fuel quality, etc. Just enjoy the truck.

I'm so old...I remember when running the AC or heater actually effected MPG.

I've found via experience that the Mav doesn't handle extra weight very well regarding MPG. If it's just me and 25lbs of stuff I get 45mpg+ going 75mph on the highway. Add just one other person/150lbs and it drops several MPG. I do have a hard tonneau cover, and that might help with MPG.

Weight definitely affects it. I noticed a difference with my kids and wife in the car versus just me. The difference is almost 10%! It used to irk me when I wouldn’t get at least 25mpg, but then my friends with a Ranger were talking about regular driving and getting maybe 20mpg…I felt much better.
My first car, a 83 Olds 98, used to get 2mpg better without the A/C on…10mpg. Haha

This is true and accurate.
Another reason nitrogen is put in tires is all the molecules are the same size and a bit larger than O2 molecules so,
Less slowly leaks out over time.

BUT !

The air we breathe is composed of approximately 78% nitrogen.

So,
I’m not getting sucked into that game. I’ll just check my tire pressure often and adjust as weather changes.

I was impressed personally. This past week I towed about 3000 lbs of wood with my wife and 3 younger boys with me. I got 25 mpg in my '25 hybrid. That's still better around town fuel economy that our '16 Sienna gets with just the family. And the Maverick still accelerated as well as the '15 Prius v the Maverick replaced with just me in the Prius v. Really, how can I not be pleased with that?!?

OP's numbers more closely resemble my EcoBoost's numbers than what I would think a hybrid should be. Something seems off.
