I use both the camera and look back, but having the backup camera definitely helps when backing out between two larger vehicles or close quarters.
Yup, I feel you!

Jumping from the OEM P225/65R17s to the meatier P235/65R18 had me driving towards a full size spare instead of the dinky "pizza cutter" Maxxis temp spare. I don't tow anything, however, my XL did come with the Ford OEM tow hitch...decided to use it for a hitch mounted spare tire carrier. Curt's 31006 24-Inch High Trailer Hitch Spare Tire Mount for 2-inch Receiver fit right in. I sourced an 18" steelie from Tire Rack and got that full size mounted up proper. I'm digging the look and of course the security of a full size spare wheel/tire.

Great idea if you get boxed in & need to reverse hard into someone to get away "Jason Borne" style.

Might be practical but it sure does not help the look
Good thing I'm not trying to please the masses with the look of my own vehicle, huh? 🙂

Not planning to, really. On the extremely rare instances I need to haul something large in the bed, then I would just undo the hitch pin, slide the spare out, load up, and put the spare tire back.

You posted, so I'm guess you were expecting opinions.
Facts first:
Can't use your tailgate.
Can't use your backup camera. Adds a couple feet to the back of the truck. That you can't see with your side mirrors when backing up.
Blocks the view of rear plate??
The purpose of it is?

Now for my opinion.
How many flat tires do you get, to possibly justify such an ugly setup?

I like the way it looks, keeps me off the ground if I do have to utilize my spare tire, eliminates some of the downward rake in my front end due to the weight shift to the rear of the vehicle.

And I'm admittedly enjoying how this mod has apparently befuddled many of the masses. 😂

Funny, deleting the spare on the Wrangler is a popular thing. Thought about doing it myself.

I had a 2-door JK a few years back, and yeah, I rolled sans spare tire for a while, but never while actually off pavement. That's just asking for it. Lol

Mount it to a swing-away hitch and get a custom tire cover.
