I have been on this forum going on 4 years. I'm amazed how many people replace a vehicle as soon as it's a few years old. Especially a truck! I can see a work truck, but a Maverick is not a "work truck", it's a fun truck. Fits in a garage, pulls a fun type trailer, (small boat, camper, snowmobile etc) fits the whole family, and looks the same as a 6 year old Maverick. Not to mention a new one cost at least 8K more just to say I have a new truck!

6-year-old Maverick?? 😳
$8,000 more for a new Maverick??

What I'm amazed at, is folks that are worried about other people's money and how they spend it.
Especially assuming that somebody who buys a new vehicle every few years has a loan on it or they are spending above their income level
It seems folks that don't have any money are mad/jealous at people who do have money or always insist that the money was inherited.

I don't mind debt as long as I'm not paying any interest on it.
I like using other people's money for free or interest lower than what I'm making on investments.
Paying off an interest-free loan does not make sense to me.

When I was young, All I heard from my parents was of the Great Depression...
Now, years later...
I am Well Off, No Debt...
AND Paid cash for MY Maverick..
Plus, I learned to Value things..
I have treated my trucks, well. And they have served me for 12 -14 years...

Ask Me the question.... in 2036...

So for me - my 2023 Tremor XLT + Lux had an MSRP of 34,300. I paid 31,800 for it.

Connected touch radio, the 8” screen, abysmal sound system, cloth interior, and lack of feature set of a Lariat really made the truck feel well below its MSRP.

Add to that I was only getting 24.6mpg on 93 octane it was not fuel efficient. It had compromised payload and tow ratings and it’s a soft roader not an off roader.

I sold it for 34,800 and drove a Honda Civic for 11k miles until my 2025 Hybrid AWD Lariat arrived. I paid 38,300 for it.

The 3,500 difference between the 23 Tremor XLT and 25 Lariat Hybrid AWD 4K tow was worth every single penny. The truck has the features and capabilities that a 38k vehicle should have and I’m so glad I made the jump.

Locally, used ones are selling so close to the price of new that buying used to save 4k doesn't make sense. Used truck prices in general are stupid, 20 year old tacomas with 100k+ selling for 15k... I don't get it.

There's also not a lot of data on true long term reliability since the oldest Mavericks are only 5 years old.

For those of us in the "boomer" generation, we worked decades to get what we have, put kids thru school, paid our taxes, etc. Just looked at my investment account, it's up $10.5K just TODAY. My new vehicles are paid for with dividends and interest.

People do different things for different reasons all the time. I'm holding on to my Mav far about 5 years, and will maybe look into getting a Lariat vs. an XLT. I'll check the option list when it's time. On the other hand....Myself and a few of my family have a pattern we stick to. My first F250 was a 99. Then a 2002, 2006, 2011, 2017, 2022. The pattern is the mileage. Just before we hit 100K (the last 5 of mine have been diesel), we trade in/up on a new one. Every 4-5 years and keep that overlap going. NOTE: you would not BELIEVE what they gave me for my "Covid Trade in" on the 2017 when I ordered my 2022. I was pleasantly surprised.
