2025 XLT remote start with Cheap replacement key fob

open the lid of the center console, there's a fabric liner in the bottom you need to remove

Ahhh, that console. What I call the center arm rest. And there it is. I'll try your instructions when I see the new remote. Appreciate your help!

Tested the key again today and here’s what I found....

When I walk up to the truck and grab the handle, the red light on the fob flashes, so it looks like the remote is at least communicating with the truck.

The key itself will start the vehicle, the remote start feature seems to be working now. Not sure why it gave me trouble on Sunday — maybe I had too many keys nearby at the time.I haven’t tested the range yet, but so far the remote start has been working.

The only thing that still isn’t working is the proximity unlock on the door handle. It won’t unlock when I grab the handle, so that’s the one feature left to figure out.

For reference, I’m running the Start-X remote start.

With my OEM fob in my pocket I have to have my pocket within 16-18" from the door handle. I cannot have fob in right pocket and open door with my left hand. Might be low battery or change/keys/fob #2/or blood in leg between fob and door handle try holding your problem fob close to door handle while trying it???

4 keys total can be programmed into the truck, at least for 2022-2024.

Well I received my two fobs today and after programming (more on that later) they both work 100% : lock / unlock / remote start / proximity lock & unlock (2025 Lariat).

So, to answer my own question the 2025s can have at least 4 fobs programmed.

I tried the programming instructions, counting 10 seconds in my head between On and Off, and nothing happened. I tried again but only waited 3 seconds or so and it worked. I guess it's a "maximum" of 10 seconds and I was counting too slowly

GREAT THANKS to @Quest for this thread, I wanted extra fobs but I was dreading going to the dealership for them . I would've never thought to check AliExpress. $72 CAD all-in for two working fobs? Awesome!

2025 switched to a different frequency (433 Mhz). Get the appropriate remotes for your truck and it'll work also

Not sure, like I said I I have not tried with older models ,tried on my 2025 & it worked.
Maybe a key vendor problem or you need to turn on remote start with Forscan

Remote start was already active in my 2025 cluster options , are yours?
The proximity thing seems odd that part should work

With no additional modules needed and remote start active, curious if you have ever tried LOCK>UNLOCK>LOCK on the original remote to try to remote start?
