I guess you can add me to this list of loud bang from rear speakers from hybrid lariat (B&O) owner.
Mine was a bang coming from rear, physically felt like the rear glass shattered, painful to hear. Happened back around december 20th. I notified the dealer during oil change later in week but hasnt happened since, I cant recreate it.
edit: was just a bang no smoke

I'll be sure to update if anything happens. I guess it's possible this will fix the issue and I can only be hopeful at this point.
If it happens again (it probably will) and you need to drive it, the quickest way to make it go away would be to unplug the B&O amplifier behind the rear seat.

Based on your description, it is clearly some digital problem, not the passive speakers. When it happens again, you could do a quick troubleshooting by pulling off the A2B digital audio input connector on the amp (the blue one). If the noise does not go away, it is a B&O amplifier unit defect and it will have to be replaced. Regardless, pulling the power connector will shut down the amp so you can drive it.

I‘m guessing the amplifier is the problem. Ford changed suppliers last year so there could have been some transition issues.

Hi David! I can look into your Maverick's speaker concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your Maverick's VIN?

Add me as well, same issue without the smell or smoke. It happened as I got in and pressed the start button and scared the crap out of me. Loud bang and scraping noise sounded like something fell on and was dragging on the roof then the sizzling/crackling blaring out of the speakers. ‘23 Lariat B&O. I tried to shutdown the Sync3 but it didn’t stop the noise even after I shutdown the ignition and opened the door. Video is after I opened the door and shows blank screen.

At just over 9000 miles mine still has had it happen just the once. No fix done. And it was the bang that scared me when it did happen.

Just had this issue OP had in a 25 XLT so non B&O. Front left tweeter was making the static sound and despite my attempts to reboot the system and turn the radio off all together it kept making noise. By the time I got on my street it was smoking. Pulled both tweeters out and you can see which one was smoking.

I upgraded the door and rear pillar speakers about a month ago to Kicker CS's running off the factory head unit power. I didn't add any amp to the tweeters so I'm not sure what happened.

I would suspect that tweeter was seeing full range signals rather than receiving a high-pass filter in the range of 2.5khz - 4khz.

did you use the kicker passive crossover, and if so how was it wired?

No crossover used. I didn't touch these dash speakers/tweeters at all.

I replaced the door and pillar speakers (Kicker 46CSC674 in the doors and Kicker 46CSC44 in the rear pillars) right off the factory wiring using Crutchfield provided adapters. I also tapped into the front two channels using Posi Taps to run lines to a sub amp (Alpine MRV-M500) to power one sub. At the time this happened, I had the amp disconnected and sub out of the truck.

The whole thing was really weird. Just driving home listening on volume 18 when the static sound happened. Tried turn it off and resetting while driving but neither made the sound go away. Started to smell the burning seconds before the smoke which was about 1000ft from my driveway.

ok, so your kicker cs are coaxial? if just leave both tweeters unplugged.

Yes, coaxial. That's the plan for now. May throw in some aftermarket tweeters in the future but right now I'm just going to roll with it with none.

do not do that, you don't want or need double tweeters.

however, if you ever get an amp, then it would be good to get components and put the tweeters in the dash locations.

I actually like a lot of treble. Although I'll be honest, the Kickers give off way more treble then the stock tweeters. I don't even really notice them not there now. Stock tweeters are kind of shit just like all the speakers were. haha

Ear-splitting loud jackhammer noises and smoke? Hey that sounds just like being at a Ramstein concert 😄 ... I'm surprised they don't charge extra for it!

This system is really putting the BANG into Bang & Olufson

I'll see myself out ...

Well, this problem has returned after about a year and a half since the local dealership fixed it. If you read through this thread from the beginning you can see the video in the first post of the jackhammer sound. The issue returned on July 4th when I was leaving Sam's club.

When I started the truck on Friday there was a very loud ear piercing crackle that came out of the speakers just as what happened back in December 2023. However this time there was no delay to when the non stop sound started coming out of the speakers. The only difference is that this time it wasn't as loud as the first time. Turning the truck off and opening the door did not stop the sound, just like the first time it happened. I had to drive home with it that way and by the time I got home there was an electronics burning smell in the cabin like something was being overloaded.
When I got home the only way I could get it to stop was to disconnect the negative battery cable.

The dealership wasn't open due to the holiday so I brought it up to them first thing Saturday morning. They said they are currently booking two weeks out for appointments but they would do their best to look at it early this week. I added another video below from the issue on Friday.

The first time this happened they determined the rear speakers were faulty and determined they needed to be replaced. It's odd that it was fine for over a year and half and now it's back.

Yikes.
Wondering if you have items stuffed behind seatbacks like I do?
I have hanging organizer with many cleaning type items on passenger side, drop clothes and pad on driver side.
Not so stuffed that seat must be slammed to be closed.

But I've seen pictures of others with a lot of stuff back there - always wondered if any ill effects if they had the B&O upgraded sound.
