Can you link to that 7&4 connector socket in the photo? Looks very much like the OE one. I’m curious what the price difference is.

Looks like you can buy the OE one for about $65-70

Part number is NZ6Z-15436-B. Then again I’m not sure if a truck not equipped with it from the factory would have the provision in the factory harness to plug it in…

I would assume it would. Otherwise anytime someone wanted to upgrade it would be a full harness swap. That seems excessive.

I've unfortunately lost the link to the specific one I got but im sure all of them on amazon come from the same factory. The factory 4 pin plug connector may or may not plug into an OEM 7/4 pin, but it definitely only supports the right/left brake/blinker, running and ground connections because theres only 4 posts in the connector. I had the same thought of being able to plug straight in but everything i could tell from research told me this was the only way, besides the aforementioned harness swap

FYI, the # NZ6Z-15436-B 7+4 harness will plug into where the flat-4 harness plugs into the body harness, but the body harness is NOT populated for reverse, power or trailer brakes. The body harness is different between 2K & 4K versions.

Title suggests, I just installed a factory like 7/4 pin adapter. I didn't want to have the look of the aftermarket 7 pin as they just didn't look good to me. I'd say it turned out well!

The install of the plug itself was nothing difficult. Since it's an Amazon part, I hooked up a spare flat 4 connector from the trailer side we had and tried all the wires to get the color coding (at least the one we ordered, it actually lined up with the factory color for the wiring). I then used some heat shrink soldier butt connectors and it was done.

I've yet to pull the 12v or reverse lights, and a brake controller is coming later (I stay under 2k lbs with the hybrid but I'm in the mountains so I want the brakes) but for 12v, I was planning to use the beds addon dc plugs and then the reverse lights are just a matter of finding the right color and splicing into it.

The cutting and welding on the truck was a tiny bit sketchy for me but it turned out just fine for what it needed. I'm happy to answer any questions about it and if anyone knows the reverse light wire color, I'd appreciate it.

Re: brake controller.
I think I will go with this as can move it from 7 pin to 7 pin and mix and match vehicles and trailers and phone has settings for each combo in memory

Thank you. This is the info I was looking for. I wish it was as easy as buying that OE part and plugging it in…

A thought: the 2022 manual shows a fuze position for "after market brake controller". Is it actually pre wired and if so is it's use monitored and is the "I have a trailer connected" just like if you connect to the OEM trailer plug?

I have no idea, but I found this thread, that indicates a connector tucked-up under the dash.

Thanks, I have seen that before. It appears he is assuming that Maverick will have that based on him finding it on different ford models. There has to be a reason that Ford has a fuze position labeled for after market brake controller and want to test for it at least being turned on. Logically to at least alter the items that the stock brake controller requires. And/or when the plugging in a trailer to the 4 pin stock plug is done. I suppose I would need to research the "add on manual". Maybe question for @Darryl

Which fuse number/position, BCM or BJB is labeled in 2022 aftermarket brake controller?

I've installed the controller on the f150 and super duty trucks. Most already had a 7 pin connector. The older ones simply had to add the controller and reprogram the the cluster to look for the controller. On the later models we had to change the trailer module in addition to adding the controller. That part combo was purchased from the ford accessories page. Not sure about what the maverick involves. But i suspect it will be a Ford accessory.

Under Hood fuse box #40 30amp
I see that fuse #40 listed on the interactive fuse webpage for 2022 and 2023 Mavericks as aftermarket brake controller:
https://www.startmycar.com/us/ford/maverick/info/fusebox/2023#anchorfusebox0

I have that fuse in my 23 2.5L Maverick.
In service manual it's listed as Trailer Tow Electric Brake, but manual shows a 25A fuse.

Here's what I see from the service manual:

On my TRM I have F42 YL/RD, F91 BU/RD, don't have F107 BU/RD:

My 2023 2.5L XLT doesn't have Fuse F107 or any terminals in BJB for F107 at Position #48
And don't have wires on TRM C4397B Pins 12, 14.

My 2023's BJB Fuses today:

Sidenote: i've got some water dripping out of the cowl drain and down onto shock tower cover and into bottom of my BJB. So I'll see if I can mitigate that. Truck was washed at home today.

I've seen the F150 posts where newer F150s require a kit that replaces the existing TRM if they didn't have the package needed for a TBC+TRM.

For some reason Ford has a fuse underhood fuse box #40 30amp labeled "aftermarket brake controller" presumably so it can be detected when active. So the truck can know a trailer is there but not be integrated to the extent the OEM Trailer control module fuse #44 40amp. Ford recognizes that some may want aftermarket controller possibly on trucks with or without the Trailer control module. This fuse info from the 2022 Maverick manual. I have a lariat hybrid with OEM 4 pin installed and have not opened the under hood fuse box to see if the #40 position is even ready for or has a 30 amp installed. Presumably no wire from the fuse to controller is installed. Thanks for your answer.
