I almost bought a Maverick about a month or so ago to replace my 2004 Ranger (handing it down to my kid, what a champ the Ranger's been) when, on the way to the dealer, I received a call that a Stop Sale had been implemented and my wife and I had to turn around and go home empty-handed (I had already driven one previously but hated the stock interior). After sitting on it for a week, I decided to just go ahead and order one from a dealer closer to me with everything I wanted and nothing I didn't (Eruption Green XLT, Ecoboost, Black Appearance Package, Luxury Package, Spray-In Liner). Got the employee pricing, so we're sitting at $34,500 (this includes delivery/destination) plus registration, doc fee, etc. Since then, all I've had time to do is more research. Here, Reddit, YouTube, etc. The Maverick looks like everything I want, but the constant recalls and issues- leaks, battery drain, CLIPS even, etc. - have me a bit spooked as the build date (week of 6/30) grows ever closer. I have a whole checklist of things to look over and test when the truck is delivered, but that will only tell me so much and can't cover everything. You all have so much knowledge and experience. Are you happy with the purchase? Would you get one again? Would you recommend it to your friends and family? Are the stock speakers THAT bad? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
My 2023 Ecoboost Lariat with 36k miles has experienced zero issues. I would definitely buy again unless I decided on an AWD hybrid.

One of the first replies explained it best: Why go to the Internet to tell people everything went fine with your purchase? Only the people that had issues (real, exaggerated or completely made up) will complain.

I'm in my 2nd Maverick, first one was a 23 FWD hybrid, my newest is a 2025 AWD hybrid, 4K tow. Both XLT with lux package. I loved them both, but the 2025 is notably quicker. My wife and her son have also bought Mavericks. The only thing lacking in the Maverick in my opinion is the crappy speakers. I rectified that in both of mine with aftermarket speakers in the front and a sub woofer behind the rear seat, on my 25 I added a 5 channel amp, it now sounds outstanding. I'm guessing if you get a lariat with the B&O sound system, it probably sounds good. I did not go the lariat route because I loathe leather seats and I feel low profile tires have no place on a truck meant for work (which mine is). Other than the speakers (easily fixed), I feel the Maverick is the perfect vehicle for most people.

I have heard people say the speaker are actually pretty good for a lower trim truck. I haven't auditioned them yet, but then my listening is mostly podcasts and stuff like that anymore so sound quality doesn't have to be spectacular for that sort of content. IE I am much easier to please than I once was! ROFL

I have a ‘22 XL. Ecoboost. This was the first year and they were very inexpensive my sticker price was less than $20,000 by the time you added everything in including all costs and taxes it was 25 out the door. It was a steal of a deal. The same equipment on a new one definitely is closer to 5000 more. Still not a horrible deal to be sure. As for the reliability they definitely are working out their bugs and kinks and it’s the usual Ford issues with the recalls but here’s the thing: Ford now has a Mobile Service that is dispatched across the country unless you’re out in a very small town they will actually come out to you wherever you are and do the work for me it has been four visits in my driveway there fast efficient and really no hassle so although it’s annoying it hasn’t laid me up hardly at all based on that I would say just go for it .

That's a neat feature. I don't live in a huge metro but certainly not remote, and I chose a dealer just down the road to boot.

I think the speakers are amazing!

... Compared to my other vehicle: a 28 year old Honda Civic.
Yeah, my point of comparison is the 04 Ranger, primarily, and I've never been a trunk-rattler, either. If it sounds okay at medium volume even I'm good.

The short answer is Yes! We are glad we bought it!! We bought a "used" 2022 XLT towards the end of '22 and overpaid for it. ($34k+) BUT, the hybrid has been amazing. 1 oil change a year, possibly 2, because of the lower wear and tear on engine and our gas bill has sliced in half. If we ride it right-a tank of gas can last us almost a month. We do most city with some highway. Wintertime sends the mileage lower.
Yes, there have been way too many recalls--but some are for eco boost, some for the hybrids and some don't affect us. We have done 3. Ford is not the only one with these recalls and it's actually good that they are admitting and doing them vs corporate coverups.
And honestly there isn't a lower priced pickup with all it offers. Figure out you needs, hybrid vs eco, front wheel vs all wheel, towing vs non tow. You really can't go wrong. Just my thoughts. Good luck with whatever you decide!!

I’m delighted with my cheap 2023 XL. I wish I had bought two of them. At the 2025 Maverick prices, I might buy it again, but I would also would be considering other options.

Do you like to keep your vehicles nice? If so, you probably won’t like the interior and exterior Maverick plastics. They scratch and scuff super easy, and due to the textures there is no effective scratch removal.

How are you fixed for money? The Honda Ridgeline starts at $41,600. The one step up model starts at $44,430. If I were buying today, I would prefer the middle grade Ridgeline over a Maverick Lariat.

A friend of mine has a 2025 Ridgeline and I have not driven it but honestly I think is a lot better than the Maverick. Better design, build quality, and materials. It has a 5.3’ bed versus the 4.5’ bed for the Maverick. He says his Ridgeline has been flawless.

My XL Hybrid beats his Ridgeline on gas mileage and price, but nothing else.
That's what the Maverick was built to do. you bought a hybrid truck for over $10K less then a basic Ridgeline. If you wanted a truck with a ICE engine, you had plenty of options, hybrid? Maverick only!

I bought a 2024 Lariat EB, 4X4 tow package. Not a single problem from mine in 13,000 miles. I love this truck. Those things on recall are minor issues. The battery issue was only a problem on the hybrid versions. I came from an F-150 and have no regrets. I prefer my 24 to a 25 because I prefer the manual hvac controls instead the touch screen controls(first world problems...lol)

Stock speakers bad? How loud do you wan to run stock or aftermarket speakers? Are you the kind of person that has to run them so loud that the whole block can hear them? I run the stock speakers and have no problem, so if you want them to last don't run them loud, unles you are DEAF!

At the September 2022 Maverick XL price, there were not plenty of options. Not counting state sales tax, I was out the door for $24,000. At that price, my only other option (besides compact economy cars) was the EcoBoost, which I seriously considered. I wasn’t even looking for a pick up truck. I was looking for a SUV. But that Maverick price was compelling.

Now in 2025 all new vehicles are higher priced. But the Maverick has gone up more than most, at least as a percentage. It is probably still a good buy. But in my opinion it is not the smoking hot deal that it used to be.

Seems to me you're doing this backwards, should do your research before buying not after.
