Did they replace your battery during the SSM? Is your current battery the original? Could it be the battery was already damaged to a point where it would lose it's charge rather quickly?
It's possible that they only updated the ACCM. But they were supposed to test and fully charge the battery along with resetting the battery monitor. I've seen the battery monitor put vehicles into deep sleep ( not just Mavericks) when the battery was actually in good condition. Ask the dealership if they reset the battery monitor. That may be all that's needed at this point since the ssm was done.

I really dont understand Ford with this issue. It is absolutely battery quality, but they are too cheap to just give everyone new batteries and give some Bullsh** Software update instead.

Im one of the lucky ones, Ive never had Deep sleep issues and am still on the original battery (2022 with 45k miles)

I leave for work for 1-3 months. I put a battery tender on the battery and leave. After 2 weeks, I will get a deep sleep message but its just the normal software response for the truck not being turned on after a certain amount of time. I show up home and take the tender off and it fires right up no deep sleep message until I leave for work again.

@Darryl

So just to confirm regarding the SSM-53801

1) Make sure ford service center has the latest software update.
2) Make sure the vehicle is left running.
3) Test and fully charge the battery.
4) Reset the battery monitor.
5) Keep vehicle locked for 8 hours for BMS realarm

I suspect these are things most dealerships know but can you think of any other pertinent information that might be helpful before someone has this update done so that it's successful?

Thanks man, I greatly appreciate your help and insight!

IMO, it's a combo. Mostly bad software programming related to the battery charging level, secondly an inadequate sized old school design battery. Replacing with an AGM battery will definitely help in the short term but it's no long term fix. It's just a matter of time before the battery charging will start affecting it. Just my 2 cents. Just glad i don't have to deal with it. Surprised your having issues, it's rare to see the issue reported on EB. I've had zero issues with my MY22 and never had a deep sleep message nor it's associated affect of turning things off etc.

More important than the reset, which is supposed to be done for new batteries, according to manual.

Is the locked overnight after a charge up, for BMS Relearn. They won't do that, owner could miss it due to unlocked in garage.

I believe SSM 53801 was brought out to address an intermittent battery drain issue, not the ongoing deep sleep concerns a lot of owner's have. It seems two separate conditions are at play. When the intermittent fault happens it kills the battery (3v) dead overnight, to the point a smart charger won't work on it. Had it happen once, and had to use my old dumb charger to get a charge on. Battery worked fine for months afterward so it wasn't the cause. Finally changed it with a new afermarket FLA, to avoid using a compromised battery over the winter.

It would be a PITA if it happened on a road trip, especially out in the boonies a long way from home.

Cheers.

If only it was that easy. MY25 Hybrids have a newer better battery than the 22-24 Hybrids, still has the problem. At this point people just need to be prepared to replace the 12v battery more often, because Ford is hopeless.

Deep sleep isn't a it won't start for us all. I am on deep sleep all the time, even though I drive an hour a day 5-6 days a week. I've never had the truck not start in just shy of 3 years (purchased July '22). Still on the original battery that was installed in May 2022 when my truck was built. I won't be buying a Ford battery to replace it though.

Me - 2024 Lariat FWD hybrid 12k miles: Based on the experiences reported here, I cancelled my appointment to address deep sleep until there are more consistent success stories.

The glass half full part is my Mav always starts so a few lights that don't shine when they should isn't a deal breaker.

Meanwhile, I love my mpg here in the land of $5+ gallon gas.
Those of us with deep sleep and no other way to remote start the vehicle (2023 Lariats do not have remote start on the FOB- they switched to the Ford Pass app). Without access to the vehicle due to the deep sleep problem we lose a major feature. Ford needs to solve this problem once and for all.

That's pretty much it. The instructions for keeping the engine running are a bit unclear. But the hotline person told me that basically it meant to keep the engine at 2000-2500 rpm. We can't see the exact rpm when doing the update. However, based on my seat of the pants intuition, holding the accelerator to the floor gives a speed close enough because the RPM is limited to around that rpm then. Once Ford gave me the proper software, the update went without a hitch in less than 15minutes

Update
Took truck to dealer this morning for an extensive battery check. This time they said the battery was bad and replaced the battery. Picked it up and parked it but the power outlet didn't power down. For the past year every time I shut off the engine the outlet would power down within seconds. After 30 minutes it was still powered and I was a little worried. Dealer had me restart the truck and power down again. He said the outlet would power off in 25 minutes. It did not. Come to find out that the time out for this outlet is 75 minutes (Ford Default).

I can tell you honestly that for the past year I have had a bad battery because the BCM would shut down the outlet. Now I have so much power that the outlet stays on for 75 minutes. The service manager did admit to me that the Ford Battery Tester does give false positives.

Tomorrow I am going to have them set the time out to 1 minute with forscan.

Another frustrating day. I appreciate all your support

That is frustrating but the good news is they are slowly resolving your issue... one step at a time. They should have given you that new battery previously, these deep issues are slowly killing our batteries. I appreciate the update!

You might try it, but last time I checked you could still do the scheduled remote start when the truck is in deep sleep.
Not sure why, but it worked when I tried it.

Not that this makes the issue excusable.

The reason they did not give a new battery until the tester said that it failed is because Ford will NOT reimburse the dealership until the tester says that it failed. When we connect the tester, we must enter our scan the VIN , enter the CCA, etc. when the battery is tested, there is a code that's connected to that vin. But that's not a good practice. The only thing we can do is to retest a borderline battery in the hopes it will fail the next time.

Good to know, thank you. From a corporate perspective, that makes sense.
