In an attempt to meet government CAFE regulations some manufactures reduced the friction inside the cylinder by decreasing ring compression. I had an Audi that got new rings because of it. There were courts that agreed with manufactures that a quart per 1000 miles is an industry standard. Just goes to show you that there are judges that don't have to try real hard to be stupid.Just wondering how much oil you Eco Boost consumes... I had to add a qt after 2000 miles at roughly 9500 miles total .
Not worried just wondering.
I may try 10W30 oil on the next change to see if it changes.
My Maverick has been at 67% forever. I don’t have to change the oil but once a year but I don’t drive that much took a road trip 3,000 mi and that was about 20%.Just wondering how much oil you Eco Boost consumes... I had to add a qt after 2000 miles at roughly 9500 miles total .

I tried low tension rings in one of my race motors but the mfg. suggested more frequent freshens which I don't like to do... 800 lsps instead of 1200.In an attempt to meet government CAFE regulations some manufactures reduced the friction inside the cylinder by decreasing ring compression. I've never had a car or truck burn oil since 1980. That seems like old tradition. It's not normal but falls within what factories accept. A quart per 1,000 is what most car companies say is still normal. Ford is one of those companies.
No it's the current standard. I checked to make sure before posting. There's a lot of Kia/Hyundai owners that are stuck with oil burning cars. Doesn't mean it doesn't happen just because it hasn't happened to you.I've never had a car or truck burn oil since 1980. That seems like old tradition.
The only turbo I owned was a 6.7L turbo diesel. Even that engine did not burn oil.
Changed at 3 thous originally, then at 5 thous each change, didn’t want confusion on my oil changingChange around 5thous. Doesn’t use any, 14 thous mi on it , 10-30 blend what their putting in it

Once the vehicle is broken in. Ford considers anything above 1 qt/3,000 miles as excessive in normal driving when using the recommend oil. If it uses that much oil again, then ask your dealer to initiate an OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. to confirm the excess consumption. In reality, MOST modern vehicles driven normally can typically go an entire oil change interval without needing to add oil. Don't change the weight of oil because again, it SHOULD NOT consume that much oil when using what Ford recommendsJust wondering how much oil you Eco Boost consumes... Please use recommended oil , for some of the ports and holes in block are very small and if the oil is thicker than required , sometime the oil will not get through.Just wondering how much oil you Eco Boost consumes... I had to add a qt after 2000 miles at roughly 9500 miles total .
