I got my first Maverick in October of 2023. It was a dealer demo XL. I had a 2023 XLT on order, but had no idea if I’d ever get it.

My 2023 HPR XLT finally arrived and I was excited. Almost two years and 6,000 miles later, I am disappointed in my little truck. Deep sleep, backup cam, interior scratches that make it look older than my 2018 model S and the list goes on.

If it wasn’t covered by a $0 deductible warranty until 2033, I’d probably be getting rid of it. I might get rid of it anyway. I can’t imagine ever recommending buying one to a friend.

Bottom line. I would not buy another Maverick.
Yes love my Maverick.

Yes I would, at the price point they used to be. Not what they are now most likely. They are a budget vehicle built decently enough for a budget vehicle but, none the less still good for the $$ at that 27ish-31 or 32K.

I cant say as though id pay more than that as ive seen their prices creeping up over the last 2 model years. I would get a slightly used one though at 30K or less. I personally now days looking at the prices...As a for instance NOW I just looked up prices on the 2025's and saw for XLT's and above 32K-40K with ones optioned package wise like mine at 35K. I would NOT pay 35+ K new...and certainly never 40K even if its a tremor.

in 2023 Mavericks were XL Mid 22K, XLT 25/26K Lariat 28/30 thats acceptable top me and id get new

2025 Mavericks are XL 27/28K XLT 30K Lariat 38K(thats around 10K MORE than a 23 was) and a Tremor at 40K

The 2024 was even

  • XL: Starting at $25,515.
  • XLT: Starting at $28,015.
  • Lariat: Starting at $36,555.
  • Tremor: Starting at $40,050.

No way im paying 2025+ pricing its simply outpaces the value it USED to be. So would I rebuy my XLT? Yes at 2022-24 pricing NO at new id get used to get a Ridgeline(also used)

Yes, it is true everything costs more, and I’m well aware of inflation, but Ford jacked the price outrageously right away, and tacked on the $1500 premium for the hybrid, and it was still a bare bones vehicle, though I hear that may have changed with the 25. However I bought a base level EV in 2021 for the same price (cause I got the tax credit); but you know what? Even as a base model it’s loaded, which is more than you can say for the Maverick, or many other American cars, and it had a better warranty. It’s also more comfortable and the handling is far superior. I wouldn’t buy the Maverick again even if they hadn’t dirtied the brand, but the reasons are just peculiar to me, and don’t apply to most people.
But you're not going to get an EV Truck for that right now. Like when I read this, I have to ask -- did you even need a truck to begin with?

For people who say they wouldn't buy one again simply because the price has gone up, what bargain vehicle would you buy in its place?
IMO Biggest bang for the buck -I’d do it again…

You’re absolutely right, but quite frankly, like many people who bought one, I don’t think of it as a truck. People who NEED a truck aren’t likely to buy a Maverick. It was made as an all around super cheap hybrid vehicle designed to appeal to a wide segment of the population, men, women, married with children: an affordable Everyman vehicle if you will. And it was serendipity that it became available when gas prices soared in 2021. I thought about buying 2, one for myself, one for my daughter, but procrastinated til they weren’t taking orders anymore. And the reason I ordered mine in September of 22 was because it was the cheapest hybrid I could find. The plan was to buy another German made EV, but in Aug 22 the government took away 95% of the EV tax credits, so much for the environment. But I think only those of us raised in the 70s GENUINELY care about that. And I was raised by people who grew up during the Great Depression so if I were to pay the amount of money they want for a 2025 Maverick I would look for a better quality vehicle, with a better warranty, and I’d find one.

false. you can do a lot with a Maverick.

the 1500lb bed payload capacity is equal to current midsize trucks and greater than standard half ton trucks less than 20 years ago.

4000 pound towing is fairly useful.

I'd buy mine again, yes. If you could get the 4K tow package with the Tremor, I'd be even more sold. But yes, I'm enjoying my truck and it fulfills all of my needs!

I really like my 2025 Lariat but I wouldn't buy this specific truck again. I would however, purchase the Tremor I was initially looking at. I bought the Lariat mainly because it was $2k cheaper than the Tremor and it handled better and was quieter (especially tire noise). The reason for the "no buy again" comes down to the colour. Black is beautiful when clean but it shows EVERYTHING! I knew this going in as I've had several black vehicles in the past.

I totaled my '23 (ordered in early '22 and waited 15 months for and got converted) and got a '24 a year ago. No problems, would order another in a heartbeat.

At that point id get used or a Ridgeline(also used) I dont think id bring myself to buy new especially when prices between 1 year and the other are as much as 10K more and they hadnt put in more "quality" or improved much.. just boosted the price by 10K

Before Friday I would have said I would purchase another Maverick. Now after driving in my son's '25 Bronco Sport. Which felt roomier pax wise. Felt all around "bigger" maybe its because this was my first time in the new Bronco's. I like it slightly better than my Maverick. The only reason I would go with the Mav again is because there isnt' a hybrid options on the Bronco Sport.

90K KMs and 3 years of ownership on my 22. Endless recalls, deep sleep, check engine light is on (Emissions issue), AWD System failure (Speed sensor, parts ordered). I love a lot of things about this truck especially the gas mileage, but it all comes down to bang for the buck. If i could get this truck again for anywhere close to the 32K I paid, I would. But with all the price increases and all the issues, I doubt it. Which is unfortunate, this truck hits all the right buttons for me, but the build quality is just atrocious.

Would I buy my Maverick again? Yes.
While I've enjoyed my 2023 Cyber Orange XLT Lux 4K FX4, I'm still building trust in it.

Recently, I towed a loaded U-Haul trailer a thousand miles without issue. It was well-behaved in Tow/Haul mode at 65mph averaging 21-22mpg. After dropping the trailer in Denver, I averaged 28mpg in Normal mode running 75mph coming back home.

This 2300 mile road trip reinforces my opinion that the versatility and performance of my Maverick was a good buy.
Cheers!
