The only thing you need to consider is the GCVWR. Exceed this and you will invalidate your warranty and invalidate your insurance. GCVWR = GVWR + Payload + Towing Capacity. Towing Capacity is based on SAE J2807 and includes a number of rigorous tests such as emergency braking, climbing a steep grade in 100 F+ weather, etc.

Towing more than a vehicle is rated for is irresponsible.

Yes, GCWR is very important to understand when towing. Eco fwd have the least payload amounts. This is the best resource for it before you get ur maverick. All ur personal towing info is in ur doorjam. On a sticker.
This is for 2022-24 mavericks

But a few hundred pounds over in good weather conditions on flatter ground shouldn’t be a problem. Obviously ur insurance and warranty matter buuuuuuuuuuut, 1. Dont crash 2. How would the warranty police know how many lbs you tow.

I've had a bit more time to look at your first post...

I think the 1.5L and 2.0L refer to different combinations of Ecoboost engines paired with the 8F35. Meaning, I believe the liters here refer to the engine displacement rather than the volume of the cooler. The cooler paired with the 2.0L Ecoboost is the only one you'll find on a Maverick because the 1.5L Ecoboost isn't available as it is in the Bronco Sport.

Also, I doubt that Ford is outfitting different transmission coolers based upon the climate of the delivery destination.
Thanks for mentioning the 1.5 Eco Boost isn't available in the Maverick. I was confused when he kept bringing the 1.5 Eco Boost up.

Ok so the 4k tow offers 3.81:1 rather than the standard 3.61:1.
But the difference is less than 5 percent (4.96)

here is the difference between the the radiator capacity. Here
8.2 vs 8.72. Or 8.7 vs 9.2 fully filled
This is around 6.34%

both have transmission oil coolers.
Even though ford specifies 4k’s get one doesnt mean 2k’s don't.
I think non 4k cooler Here
And i think 4k cooler Here

The reason I'm saying “i think” is because there are 4 on fords parts list a 1.5L a 2.0L another 2.0L for the tremor pack and an unspecified liter amount automatic transmission one. Some say hot weather and normal weather climate maybe they outift different mavericks depending on where they are going to be sent to. Depending on the climate. Also, maybe the 1.5L is only used in the hybrids since the eCVT doesn't need as much cooling as the 8f35 trans. I also could be wrong, the hybrid might not even have a trans cooler at all since all of them say automatic, which doesn't mean ford wouldn't put and auto cooler on a cvt.

The 2.0 liter says for class two trailer towing in the specifications
So im going to speculate mavericks in hot climates get the 4k tow package one even if they have a 2k tow truck.

So ur getting 25% bigger trans oil radiator in a 4k in the normal climate.

(Edit) the liter amount may just mean what engine its for since the 2.0 eco can use a 1.5 eco rated trans cooler and still stay cool.

Now the other difference is the radiator fan. It seems like the tremor might have 2 smaller fans.
Here are the two packages of them

Tremor Here. The tremor one 25in in Length meaning “I think” there is two of them.
IF ANY ONE HERE HAS tremor PACK TAKE A PICTURE OF THE radiator FANS. I would like to make sure that im correct.

(Edit this is fx4 and 4K) Here 43in long assembly
(Edit this is just 2k ) Here 33in long assembly

i dont know how much more cooling there is in two 25 in fan assemblys vs one 45in assembly but if anyone wants to have at it they can try. For fx4 vs tremor.

The difference between 4k and 2k is 45in vs 33in

Anyway. I think the biggest reason why standard non 4k have such a low tow rating is because they don't have a trailer brake controller. They only have the 4-pin instead of the 7-pin. Im not saying to void ur warranty by towing 4k pounds with a 2k truck just because you added a brake controller. But i think it should get a few extra hundred pounds safely. Not 4k but i would say around 2200-2600 being conservative.

Ok, this was my summary of this 4k vs non 4k issue that many people wanted answers to. If you have any conflicting evidence please post.

EDIT: After looking at little more at the ford parts website ive concluded the oil trans cooler on the 2k does not run to a radiator while the 4k does. The 2k cooler is larger and most likely gets its cooling from a scoop under the skid plates or it runs to a small radiator somewhere since i cant see the diagram on the 1.5, while the 4k is smaller it runs to a larger radiator in the front of the truck.
Thanks for mentioning the 3.81:1 Ratio with the 4K Tow Package and the standard 3.61:1 Ratio i was trying to find out the differences but couldn't find anything. And IMO that's not much difference in the Standard and 4K Tow Package but i guess when Towing 4,000 lbs. every little bit counts.

Yeah Fords maverick builder isnt the best for specifications.

Also when i was talking about the 2.0 and 1.5 I was trying refer to either the transmission coolers capacity or trying to name the cooler in which ford is using a 1.5L i4 rated trans cooler in their 2.0L i4. for, since most car manufacturers dont really follow codes or naming diagrams. I was just shooting in the dark. Which you already read from Tbone

Since the ford bronco is on the same platform and uses the same transmission as the maverick it now makes sense that they could use a 1.5L ecoboost—rated trans cooler on some non tow configurations.

I dont even know if people can own hybrids or electric cars in those areas/ would not trust a hybrid to even sit in those 110f days you guys get out there. The battery would drain itself keeping cool lol. You would have to keep it plugged in or running 24/7.

disclaimer:
Hybrid owners please dont attack.
💣💣💣💣 💪💪👊👊

Heat is not great for any battery, including yours. But they can drive just fine in 110°F. I've had mine up to 119°F but just for a few days. But probably living in southern AZ will take a couple of years off longevity. So you'll get 12 years instead of 15.

I looked this Trailer Towing Selector up for the 2025 Maverick and it shows only the 3.81:1 Axle Ratio for the 2.0 Eco Boost and AWD and No 3.63:1 Axle Ratio?

That's correct. For 2025, the 3.81:1 final drive ratio has been standardized for all Ecoboost models.

It is odd that you cant get a fwd Ecoboost anymore too.
And now the hybrid has a 3.37:1 and almost 200 more lbs GCVR capacity than the eco with 4k.

Not too hijack this thread, but it seems like you guys should be the ones I need to ask.
Currently, I have a 2021 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. I average between 19 and 21 miles per gallon on a good day. I commute to work 21 miles one way every day five days a week. I do haul (never more than 35 miles) a side-by-side on a 14 foot single axle galvanized steel trailer. The side-by-side is a 2022 Can-Am Maverick sport max four seater it weighs 1700 pounds I do not know what the trailer weighs.
I am looking at getting a 2025 Maverick XLT with a 4000 pound tow package. One I want better gas mileage especially for commuting to work daily. Two, how well the Ford handle pulling my trailer side-by-side. Do any of you do similar towing? I also like the ability to have a little bit of a truck bed even though it’s not very big to put stuff on I’m just trying to get thoughts and opinions on my situation before I pull the trigger.

Thank you

Ford spent time and money delineating/creating a 4K tow package. They are serious. That's all I need to know.

The highest GCVWR capacity maverick you can get is the 2025 Hybrid AWD with the 4k tow pack. I have not towed yet but from other people towing 4000-4200lbs isnt really an issue for the maverick. If you want more power i would go with a 2024 Ecoboost AWD with the 4k because it has more hp (250hp eco vs 191hp hybrid)and it also has more power than the 2025 eco which they downgraded to 238hp for this year
The GCVWR isnt really to much of difference anyway between the two.

The MPG is about the same between the two when towing. The ecoboost might actually outperform the hybrid in MPG when towing over 4k lbs

It’s a 2025 XLT I’m looking at. But that would be good enough I hope.
