Canoo, Lordstown, Faraday Future, Fisker, and Nikola were all "disruptors" at one time.

Unfortunately, the price point is unlikely to hold.

For reference of those unaware (and these teaser articles still play coy with the appearance), this has been confirmed to be one of the prototype samples:

No competition until it is in production. Until then, it is vaporware. The internet is littered with failed vehicle startups that could never meet the promises they claimed.

I like the way it looks with the OG Japanese truck vibe, but there's a lot of hurdles to EVs going full mainstream due to bad perceptions from the first few generations, poor infrastructure (power generation, distribution, and charging), and now politics. Bezos vs. Musk just makes that last point even more of a toxic hot button.

The Chevy Bolt was a very good, practical EV that could be bought new at somewhat obtainable prices, and can be had used really cheap...but it didn't sell well. I'm seeing new Nissan Leafs for $15,000 on cars.com too, which it even if it is a flawed vehicle, that is pretty shocking if accurate.

Hard to say how this will play out, but I am pretty convinced China will own the future if American and European automakers can't compete with their EVs. Go watch a YouTube video of Soviet cars that were still being made in the 80s's that were awful, hilariously inefficient, and were no better than something from the 1950's in America. Now imagine our automotive industry lagging that far behind.

Yeah, I'll believe $25k when I see it.

I like more small trucks though.
