No competition until it is in production. Until then, it is vaporware. The internet is littered with failed vehicle startups that could never meet the promises they claimed.
Agreed , I have been seeing "Scout " ads for 2 years and have yet to see one for sale
on a lot or anywhere for that matter ....

Something to consider if going EV. Your standard home owners policy does not cover the charger or the EV if garaged. And may decline a claim for damage caused by an EV related fire. Recently shopping for home owners insurance and several companies asked immediately if I owned and EV.

The plant in SC is still being completed. I worked for a supplier of parts that was awarded a contract to make some parts for Scout back in 2023. The first testing of molds was to be this year with limited production by 2026.

You have to admit the fact that the Maverick Hybrid was a game changer.
The Maverick Ecoboost was a surprise hit.

Competition is good, but like one said, so far it’s just click bait and vapor ware.

I’d speculate that Ford will get the plug in Mavbrid and the full EV Maverick or Ranger out in full production first.

Ok I’ll admit it. I’m a Cybertruck Fan
Tesla will likely stay on top of the EV market.
I’d lay money on Tesla to build a mini pick up truck that actually works for the masses.
300-400 mile range,
1500 pound payload,
4,000 pound towing capacity.
Seats five, a maybe on this one.
Still if you tow 4,000 pounds I’d be surprised if your range held at 150 miles.

Only change will be smaller parts flying off when driving it.

Won’t even bother with the click bait, wouldn’t even be interested if it ever did happen in the long term future.
Write an article, post it on the internet and it’s amazing the number that even put remote faith that it’s it true or will ever happen. IMO china can have it if it ever does make mass production

It’s believed that the base model may be referred to as the “Blank Slate,” but Slate Auto is also expected to offer a large array of customization options via a program that may be called “Slate University.”
can't wait to hear all the raging "it was supposed to be a $25k truck!"

Certainly not for everybody yet. Neither were horseless carriages when they first came out.

A lot of people do have interest in them. And the current ones are perfect for a lot of people's vehicle needs, including service, delivery and utility fleets in city/suburban situations.

I would much rather see these being sold to the US market by US companies than chinese companies. Which is what will happen if we throw up our hands, sit on our asses and let them dominate that market.

Wasn’t the Maverick a 25k truck at one point?

Honestly, EV’s are going to dominate the market in a few years and yes, our beloved Mav’s will lose popularity. It doesn’t mean we can’t love them.

i wonder if the first 10 buyers get a ride on the toy rocket included?

The Lariat version will cost $45,000, it will be the 1st edition and no other model will be available. You would be a fool to pay that much extra.

If this price point holds then Ford should worry about future Maverick sales.

Thought not impossible it is very unlikely as we have seen many of theses so call " distrupters" announced with substantial big name backers only to have them fizzles out to either bankruptcy or acquisitions. Lords Town, Canoo, Fisker Bright Auto, Aptera, Arrival, Faraday Future , Sono Motors, Nikola, Electric Last Mile Solutions , Coda Automotive. All claiming to be coming to compete with either Tesla or the Ford Maverick.

During the early America car rush there were many car manufactures one popped up everyday. eventually it all consolidated to the big three - Ford, GM and Chrysler.
in the American EV market today big three are Tesla, Rivian and Lucid.

As far as compact trucks there is room for only one more because right now it is Ford with the Maverick and Hyundai with the Santa Cruz - The third manufacture better hurry - or it will just consolidate to the two.

The thing with human being is that to much options cause us to make no choice at all but give us a limited two or three options and we are all over them.

Smartphones -
Apple - Samsung
Ios - Andriod

computers-
PC - Macs

Compact truck-
Maverick - Santa Cruz

In conclusion the window is closing fast on another compact manufacture to introduce their pickup truck. Toyota, Honda, Kia , Subaru, Volkswagon. etc...
