I have a 22 Maverick lariat hybrid. Dealer replaced my BXT99RT4A 390 CCA in it's 34th month due to a bad cell with a BXT99RT4A MAX series 470 CCA under warranty. I drove home and put my noco genius 5 amp maintainer on the new battery, shut hood, locked truck, which took over three days to charge and run the optimization routine. I then reset the BMS and locked truck for the new battery learn procedure. Left noco on for 3-4 more days unlocking and locking once a day to restart noco to top off and rerun optimization. Nine weeks after new battery installed left rear qtr panel got bent and truck was in body shop 5 solid weeks. Got it back battery said 12.2v. no idea how long battery was disconnected. Put battery on noco for 3 full days. Battery was replaced 19 weeks ago. So no long term experience yet. Battery will see the noco for 3-5 days anytime dome light does not come on or every 3rd to 4 month whichever comes first. Prior to my Maverick hybrid I had a gas Honda CRF which would eat a battery in 28-34 months do to the way they delayed charging battery until ice was up to temp. When I started putting my noco on it every 3-4 months the last battery was still going strong at about 64 months. I have never had my Maverick fail to start but have seen no dome light ,2-3 times in 39,000 miles.
Why the f would you go to all that work on a vehicle still under warranty?? We ALL should complain to Ford and maybe file a class action lawsuit - there had to be at least one Lawyer on this forum that can speak to this.

Lets see if they have a fix by April 1st . April fools day. If they keep pushing a fix date a class action may be needed. Know idea if there is enough money to entice anyone.

Was looking for input on dead battery, guess I found some. Went out this past Dec 2024. and my Maverick was completely dead. Used a charger for a couple hours, started right up. Had a discussion with my mechanic (since 1980) and his experience is that the hybrids "like to constantly communicate" with the key fob. I had the vehicle in the garage, key fob 10 ft away for 4 days. So I wondered if the click click had been going on all that time? I decided to lock the vehicle when not in use. No click click, no problems. I do keep a jump starter in back, just in case.
Your mechanic is nuts.

Hybrids only? - lets say all cars with optional fob for keyless or non-keyless entry, but don't they all now?

The vehicle has their receiver on listening for signal from the key fob 24/7.

It's a receiver though, it ain't talking back to the fob.
And on many vehicles, including the truck, the fob tries to save it's own battery by not sending anything once it stops moving, it goes to sleep.
Non-keyless entry/non-push-button start fobs aren't constantly sending anything anyway - gotta hit a button to send a signal with the command.
Keyless entry/push button do send out transponder info on movement, so truck can prep to open door for you.

Even with a lock - you'll hear clicks for awhile as relays turn things on/off, ect.

You had the intermittent battery drain - not the normal problem you are seeing posts about.
It might be back again for you - so good prep on the jump pack.
How's the ATT cellular signal in your garage/area?

There is a process for the drain issue - where they'll confirm the drain didn't ruin your battery below a certain threshold. If it happens again I'd have them do the full test.

Any vehicle with a smart key/intelligent access (push button start) will do this if you leave the key fob too close to the vehicle. Nothing to do with hybrids. 22-24 XL and XLT Hybrid Mavericks don't have that key type, yet plenty of us have the battery issue, totally unrelated.

I had a 2008 Hybrid with a smart key, during the 6 years I owned it, I never had to replace the 12v battery, and I wasn't the first owner.

I don't get it. I'm on my second battery on a vehicle that's less than a year old. I've now been checking the batteries. This second battery was put in about 7 weeks ago. I drove it Wednesday, parked it Thursday and just checked the battery. The analyzer was blinking low battery the minute I connected it. It is slowly dieing even though a higher CCA was installed. In that short time it is at 23% capacity. Voltage is at 12.2 and no Sleep mode yet. Probably needs to get below 12. WHY! What needs to draw that kind of power in a 38-hour period. The service writer told me I shouldn't have anymore issues. Very comforting! When I brought it in Monday for the camera and another issue. I asked just to test them and he said battery is fine.

It's a combination of modern cars having a lot more computers running when in use (thus more power draw), which makes recharging it through normal commuting difficult. Then throw in stuff like the constant data collection (cell phone tower connection) for Ford Fordpass and telematics to Ford and Ford dealers, which is only made worse if you live in an area with poor cell signal. Then you add that the system is programmed to only charge the 12v battery to 80% capacity (which is dumb), and you have a recipe for disaster.

Your truck may also have a bad relay, or some chip/sensor that just won't power down like it's supposed to. One owner on Reddit found that the heater the keeps the front facing emergency braking camera clear of frost/snow was always on for example. Most dealerships simply don't have techs with the skill and time to find the issue.

On the surface the 80% charging setting seems idiotic, but Ford (and by all accounts Toyota with their hybrids) did it for a reason. Perhaps the goal was to absolutely minimize the charging of the battery to improve fuel economy. (Would seem like false economy, bumped mine up to 95%.) Might explain why there has been no update to address the deep sleep that a lot of owners have experienced. IIRC anything that negatively impacts fuel economy on in service vehicles is a problem for manufacturers.

Cheers.

I doubt it's a fuel economy reason, most likely a calculated risk to get people to buy batteries more often. Lead acid batteries do not like to be below a full charge.

My 23' Hybrid Maverick would go into Deep Sleep 15 minutes after arriving at work.....my commute to work, 50 miles, of which 39 of the last 40 are Interstate highway......driving more is NOT the fix!
Mine goes into Deep Sleep typically the day after my longest drives 2-4 hours
