IS the Lariat worth the extra money?

Look into a 25 Hybrid as they now equal the playing field and can be optioned with AWD and the 4k tow package. As to if the lariat is worth it that is up to you. For me it is not and that’s why I went with an XLT when I had a 22 and again with my 25. For many people even the base xl trim is good. For 25 all trims now come with the same infotainment system.

I agree, 2025 XLT, AWD, 4k hybrid here. Did not want to pay $4k+ extra for the Lariat trim. Liked the XLT and XL wheels better, like the fabric seats, don’t need heated anything as it’s just annoying to me (another reason to get fabric seats, they don’t get as cold as the faux leather and warm up fast with just the heater). Things I do miss but wasn’t worth the extra money are the sliding rear window and adaptive cruise. I plan on adding those after the fact for way cheaper. Heck, I wanted the sunroof also and that was really the only reason for getting an XLT. Probably would have just gotten the XL. Although I do like the rear seat drink holder and remote lockable tailgate.

I agree with you, Larry. We recently bought my wife a new Equinox that has an all new dash for '25, and I really like it. After being in hers and getting back in my '24 Lariat with Sync 3 I find myself ovecome with technology envy.

My infotainment screen looks like a little raisen box taped to the dash compared to hers.

Exactly this. If the Maverick was only offered xl and xlt trims, I would not have bought one. If it was offered with the platinum trim level, I would have definitely got a platinum over the lariat. The lariat is the lowest level of technology and creature comforts that I’m will to accept in a modern car.

It makes me think that the people complaining about the lariat being too upscale and expensive and a poor value, have never once driven a nice car in their life.

No, I would not pay the extra money for a Lariat, even now if I could snap my fingers and upgrade my XLT Luxury package. Is it worth the extra liability financially? No chance. I buy dividend stocks with my savings. Is it worth it of you're wanting to splurge in (or close to) retirement? Yes.

I’ve found after decades of purchasing new vehicles that if you can afford it get the top of the line packages especially if you’re one that keeps vehicles for extended periods since you‘ll be living with it for a long time that‘s just my opinion from my experience and this is more attractive to used car buyers at the end of the day which means a better ROI…

Hmmm, ROI. In terms of investing there are assets and liabilities. Assets put money in your pocket while you sleep, everything else is a liability. More stuff to break over time too.

It's a little funny to hear the consternation over the "leather/vinyl" seats regarding being too hot, cold, or sweaty and how it's a deal-breaker when there are so many simple solutions.

Hot & Cold: Fabric/neoprene seat covers, throw a blanket or towel down, seat cushions.

Hot: Plug-in air cooled seat cushions/covers, put a sunshade up in the windshield, tint your windows with heat-rejecting ceramic tint.

Cold: Use remote start to activate the heated seats, wear lined pants.

It will depend on whether the extra features are worth it to you. Auto cruise and heated wheel were must-haves for me so that put me into the Lariat.

I fully agree with you. With todays vehicles, you have to get "packages" not seperate wants. I live in Florida, and don't need heated seats, mirrors, wipers, or steering wheel, but I wanted push button start, non cloth seats, and all the safety features available. I had to go with the Lariat, and Lux package to get what I wanted. Still at what the Maverick cost, I consided it well worth it with stuff I didn't need.

As a personal perspective, I'm used to my Premium 401A Mustang GT. Stepping into my Lariat (24) isn't a disappointment.

I miss a few things the Mustang has, but then again, modding can be a lot of fun.

I bought my 2024 as a deal on the same lot as 2025s (much more $). I'm very happy with what we have.

BTW: Glad I added decent ceramic tint.

Yes, it's worth it.
I had a 2022/23 Maverick and I ordered and bought 2025 last year. Why?
It has all the safety bells and whistles along with a larger screen that includes navigation. The interior is nicer. It also has a great sound system.
I've had an F150. Yes, the bigger truck probably has a quieter and smoother ride, but it's big! If big is your preference, fine. This size truck is far more maneuverable. I moved down from a F150 to a tricked-out Ranger, to a very cool Mustang, and on to a Maverick. I won't be going big again.

My 2025 Maverick Lariat will cost me $39,892 out the door. That $7, 233 difference gets me Al wheels, heated seats & steering wheel, 42 MPG Hybrid w/AWD, all the safety features and better powered seat, leather type seat materials and better sound system. If I keep the truck for 10 years, that added cost above what my Tacoma costs me works out to $2.00 per day ($7,233/10 years/365 days per year). For $2 a day the Lariat is a no brainer. At 73 years old, a little comfort and safety are well worth the added cost.

That's a very good way to think about it. This definitely helps me justify to myself that I paid extra basically for creature comfort. I do love my Lariat Hybrid AWD, wouldn't go to a lower trim unless I couldn't afford it.

I have USAA for auto insurance and prior to purchasing my Lariat, I provided the VIN #s of both an XLT and Lariat I was comparing. USAA actually quoted me $16 cheaper/month for the Lariat compared to the XLT.

That is not much and I was still going to get the Lariat for other reasons but, I just found that odd.

probably because the lariat comes with many safety features the base XLT doesn't, Co-pilot360 Assist 2.0. It's an option on the XLT and you might have to explicitly tell them you have those features, and maybe they'll give you a discount for it.
