I would never do that to my Maverick - I mean the offloading part. If I ever need to go where there is no roads, I'll rent a real SUV. There is no chance in hell I'd abuse it that much - it's a city/highway vehicle.
Most off road I will see is a literal 200 foot dirt flat gravel road to gf’s family get together lol. I think this is a moot point for 99% of people. Cool they tested it I guess

It completed most of the tests. One thing to remember the stock tires are horrible... They should repeat this test with Firestone Destination A/T2 in 235/65R17. They are a good light weight AT tire for the Hybrid.
I don't think tires would make a difference on the rollers. What should have been done was keeping it in slippery mode with traction control off.

I agree that the test on the dirt trail more aggressive tires can and will have a different outcome if that portion of the test you were referring to.

Traction control is turned off automatically in different modes for a reason. Traction control is designed to not allow wheels to spin keeping the vehicle from sliding sideways. Especially used at higher speeds traction control helps keeps the vehicle and driver from loosing control

The funniest part of that video was seeing the ARTICULATION on that old Range Rover. :D

Since it's flat, I don't think you'll have any issues getting through.

The funniest part of that video was
... trying to do offroading in a vehicle that was never meant to do any. It makes as much sense as going skating on a bicycle. 😁
Until the last summer, I had an AWD Subaru Legacy - an amazing city car that does extremely well in most severe city/highway driving conditions. Would anyone in sound mind take it on an off-roading test? No. Same applies to that Maverick.

Maybe this is why Ford didn't offer AWD on the Hybrid to start?
Not worth it.
I'm sure a set of winter tires will serve you fine in snow/ice conditions.

I think it's less about doing something that's it's meant to do, vs bad programming not allowing it to do something that it could do. The fact that it's not even trying to grab the free spinning wheel a lot of the time means they're doing some fuckery.

Wow. More proof to keep my 2022 ecoboost xlt fx4. I've been so impressed with its offroad capability, very disappointing to see this video. Also, don't blame the tires, it's clear the torque vectoring cannot do its job.

I've been wondering if the mods I've been doing to my 2022 were worth it (sync 4, screen upgrade, adaptive cruise control, ect) and now I want to put more $ into my 2022.
It is the same AWD system as your FX4. Your FX4 does not perform any torque vectoring the hybrid AWD system can't. Drive modes can be added via Forscan.

I agree the AWD Subaru Legacy is not made for off road.
QUOTE
"Key points about Subaru Legacy ground clearance:
Standard clearance: 5.9 inches
Compared to other Subaru models: The Legacy has slightly more ground clearance than the Impreza hatchback, which has 5.1 inches.
Consideration for terrain: While the Legacy's ground clearance is suitable for most road conditions, it may not be ideal for significant off-road driving."

I disagree that the Maverick is the same, and I would and plan on light off roading with the Maverick.
On 4x4 they offer low gear or 2 speed transfer case. AWD on the Maverick offers Low on the ecoboost not sure on the hybrid but also allows the driver to switch modes and turn off traction control. Similar to 4x4 offering limited slip, traction look or locking differential. If you don't order optional lockers on a 4x4 basically you get one wheel in the front and one in the rear and it will spin not transferring power to the other wheel without some sort of lockers. Same principal as traction control on a AWD it is to keep the vehicle from sliding sideways especially at higher speeds. That is why some manufacturers only allow the lockers only in low 4x4 for safety.

I do agree that ground clearance and aggressive tires makes a world of difference as well.

Also for more difficult off road the Maverick Tremor offers a electric rear lockers and an even higher ground clearance. The downside is loss of payload and loss of towing capacity.

It's not the tires.

I care about ice and rain only personally, do not plan to be hitting large trenches.

The first 3 tests made me feel pretty good about it for those situations.

Did Ford change the programming on the traction control? I went back and watched the TFL video when they took a '22 FWD Hybrid to the ranch. It seemed to be more aggressive grabbing the spinning wheels with the brakes.
