It completed most of the tests. One thing to remember the stock tires are horrible... They should repeat this test with Firestone Destination A/T2 in 235/65R17. They are a good light weight AT tire for the Hybrid.

We all knew this was coming. One of the many tests that TFL was going to do with the new Maverick Hybrid AWD. I think many of you would like to know how it performs in the real world since a lot (including me) ordered this particular drivetrain.

EDIT: Whoops! Looks like somebody beat me to the punch. I didn't realize someone had already linked this video on the forum. My bad! Thank you administrator for catching that.

Those results are a little disappointing but at the same time the ground clearance on a maverick is not nearly high enough to go off roading imo. As long as it can get unstuck/traction on ice thats all I care about.

Yeah, this video says it’s perfect for me. Never going off road and if I did have to do it, I’d prob be ok.

I do wonder if that is something that could be updated via OTA software update because of lot of it seemed very much the vehicle being able to but not knowing what to do.

I was wondering the same thing. My theory is it would cut into fx4 and/or tremor sales if the base one could do offroady stuff so the intentionally gimp it.

Wow. More proof to keep my 2022 ecoboost xlt fx4. I've been so impressed with its offroad capability, very disappointing to see this video. Also, don't blame the tires, it's clear the torque vectoring cannot do its job.

I've been wondering if the mods I've been doing to my 2022 were worth it (sync 4, screen upgrade, adaptive cruise control, ect) and now I want to put more $ into my 2022.

I don't think they would intentionally gimp it. Fx4 is way different than AWD. I am curious how it does with the Ecoboost. I'm betting it's just some bad logic in the new AWD hybrid transmission.

How did you do the sync 4 upgrade? I have the 24 XLT.

I would never do that to my Maverick - I mean the offloading part. If I ever need to go where there is no roads, I'll rent a real SUV. There is no chance in hell I'd abuse it that much - it's a city/highway vehicle.

Most of TFL tests of AWD systems is for living in Colorado. A lot of hills that get slippery with snow and ice. Simply turning into an icy inclined driveway could be a challenged. I wouldn't have those problems here in Mobile, Alabama. But I can imagine that would be an issue up north.
