Exactly. The Maverick interior is rubbish compared to the contrast stitched, full leather interior that comes in the Colorado and the Tacoma.

That Stitched leather interior isn't standard on the Colorado or the Tacoma. You're going to pay quite a bit extra for it if it's even available on lower trim models. I agree the Maverick should have better interior plastic on at least the Lariat trim.

But a $106k Bronco Raptor doesn't have nicer interior plastics. It legit has a fake stitched leather dash that has zero give. I'd prefer to not have a fake stitched all plastic dash.

A gently used 40k Ridgeline vs a new 40k Maverick. If you ever driven a Ridgeline, it's a night and day difference.

Maverick is not a 40k truck (just my opinion).

I have. Are you talking about compared to an ecoboost lariat? The Maverick ecoboost lariat has more useful power, and drives better. Better as in more agile and car-like. Both of these drive less like trucks than a Ranger or Colorado, and everything drives better than a Gladiator.

I mention the Gladiator because it is going to be the first actual hybrid compact / midsize competitor in a weird way later this year when the 4xe finally arrives.

I had a 4xE wrangler (Rubicon) as a car rental for a couple of weeks. It is a weird beast. The electric motor replaces the torque converter in front of the transmission and is quite noisy. Unlike a Tesla with good sound insulation, where you hear a faint motor whine and get a smooth rush of torque through a single speed gear box, the uninsulated wrangler lets you hear the electric motor rev through each gear and you feel each gear shift. Then combine that with the 4 cylinder turbo revving out through each gear and it is quite a cacophony.

But it is not efficient. Between the solid axles, the transfer case. The mud tires. The 0.55 cD drag coefficient and the low gear ratios, it would only get 16 mpg on the freeway.

The upside is that it makes 375 hp and 470 lb/ft. And it feels legit. There is no comparison to the old 280 hp N/A V6 with 260 lb/ft.
